Mazda recently released the production figures for the RX-8 (SEP-03)

Produced........... 8517

Japan issue....... 1347
Export issue...... 7353

Aussie issue...... 0200?? from the 7353 export issue. Seems the US market is getting most of the exports I reckon

Before you ask. I know it adds to 8700 begging the question "Where did the extra 183 come from" I can not answer that myself.

Still, its good to see so many getting made. Mazda will be able to maintain this maximum figure for many months to come I feel.

UK/Europes production was made in September, so at least 2000+ of those are destined for us.

(mine was made 6th of september, and should be at dealers soon).

Edit :- in other news that works out to over 100,000 RX-8's made per year at that rate !

8517 must be the total number produced to date.... up to the end of September. I can't imagine them having the capacity to produce >100,000 per year.

Nah, they've sold 5000+ in Japan alone.

US must have had 10000+ already. Uk gets 2000 right now.

8500 is way to low.

Production was supposed to be 30-60k per year I thought.

I thought the UK were getting around 1100 in the first batch up to the new year.

The more RX8s sold, the more reasons for Mazda to consider the new RX7.
