Georgia emissions and my 17 cylinder RX8

Last year around this time I posted about my problems with the State of Georgia's computer systems having the '8 listed as a "2 cylinder". It seems that they've remedied this problem.

But the RX8 is still not in the computers correctly and apparently the systems cannot communicate with the cars via OBD. Some of the machines are not capable of testing the cars at all while some are able to if the tester manually enters the data.

Get this: the way they trick the system into testing the '8 is by entering it as a 17 cylinder!

My mind boggles at what such an engine would look like...I'm thinking something like the Bugatti W16 with an extra cylinder welded on. But at 1.3 L, each one would have to be about the size of a model airplane motor.

Anyway, the practical part of this message is this: if you're getting tested, ask the tester whether they can test the '8. If they encounter problems during the test, suggest they enter the car as a 1.3 L 17 cylinder.
