A thought just occurred to me. My RX-8 is the first rotary car I've owned and haven't been that familiar with rotaries until now. Given that all rotary engine cars consume oil, has anyone noticed a difference, yet, in the amount of oil consumed by the RX-8 when different oil brands are used? This question goes for all the experienced RX-7 owners too. Does oil brand or additives make a difference in oil consumption for a rotary engine?
Also, is it best to use an oil brand which burns off more easily than an oil designed to withstand burn-off? I'm not too experienced with oil science so my uneducated guess is that oils which don't burn off as easily might have a tendency to become more sludgy over time.
