View Full Version : First CD track
Pillman 10-28-2003, 12:17 PM Whilst I appreciate that most of you will be listening to the sounds of 9,000 rpm under your bonnet in the first couple of weeks of ownership, I thought for a bit of fun I would start a thread to ask for everyone’s top three tracks (not whole CD's) that would suit the RX8...not just your favourite tracks…rather the ones that you feel would be inherently suited to the Rx8.
I'll kick off 1st:
Pet shop boys: 'Was it worth it' (not a joke - I love it)
Fatboy Slim: The Rockafeller Skank
New order: Round & Round (would have been good for advert)
RX-Late 10-28-2003, 12:49 PM Steppenwolf: Born To Be Wild
Let's test that Bose stereo baby!
Lensman 10-28-2003, 12:50 PM The Americans did a similar thing. (http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5700)
I'd say:
'You spin me right 'round' - Dead or Alive
'Daytona' - Chris Rea (cheeky this as it's about a Ferrari but the spirit is right)
'You, shook me all night long' - AC-DC
None of these will be my first play. That'll be either 'Kashmir' (Zep) or 'I Feel Love' by Kingston Wall (a very rocky version of the Donna Summer song and no, I'm not gay ;) ).
Astor 10-28-2003, 01:44 PM Soundgarden-Outshined
Ted Nugent-Stranglehold
Led Zep-Achilles Last Stand (sp)
Harrizone 10-28-2003, 02:08 PM How about????
Bat out of Hell - Meatloaf
Leader of the Pack - Shirelles???
Stairway to Heaven - Led Zep
or as a tribute "House of the Rising Sun'?
and I like your choice RX-Late, full volume windows open.
Stu C 10-28-2003, 03:07 PM Not showing my age but....
since you've been gone - Rainbow
ace of spades - Motorhead
anything by annihilator (canadian rock band that has the most amazing guitar riffs on every album)
I can't see myself driving slowly to this. :D
Stu C
Edit : for serene times, lots of stuff like Joe Satriani, Pink floyd and lots of tracks from the 60's
Who did that 'do-a-diddee-diddee-um didde-ay' track, any one know?
JohnnyCumLately 10-28-2003, 06:14 PM Richard Wagner, Ride of the Valkyries (http://classicalmus.hispeed.com/articles/wagnervalkyries.html)
Danny Elfman, music from the first Batman film
Gustav Mahler, just about anything
and while waiting for delivery: The Cranberries, can't remember which track but the bit that goes "you'll have to hold on, you'll have to hold on, hold on, hold on..." etc.
lurcher 10-28-2003, 06:37 PM The Propellerheads album, came out in 1998 or so, is great on the twisties, car chase flavoured.
Ricardo 10-29-2003, 03:42 AM I too have been pondering this question and after much deliberation it has to be the Foo Fighters - 'All my life'. A real 'kicking' track with spot on lyrics for all of us here...
Here's the first verse..
All my life I've been searching for something
Something never comes never leads to nothing
Nothing satisfies but I'm getting close
Closer to the prize at the end of the rope
All night long I dream of the day
When it comes around then it's taken away
Leaves me with the feeling that I feel the most
The feeling comes to life when I see your ghost
Or you could go with 'Born to Run' by Frankie goes to Hollywood.
ploszek 10-29-2003, 03:47 AM Does anyone have the "Zoom Zoom Zoom" soundtrack?
Only kidding - it would drive me nuts very quickly!!!!!!!!
RobDickinson 10-29-2003, 03:51 AM hmm. Might be Cults She sells sanctuary.
rich606 10-29-2003, 06:48 AM A design for life??? Manic Street Preachers
(well for a minimum of 3 years anyway!!):D
U2 Beautiful Day
AC/DC Highway To Hell
Led Zeppelin Rock and Roll
Lensman 10-29-2003, 07:28 AM Actually mine will be 'Also sprach Zarathustra' by Richard Strauss.
Pillman 10-29-2003, 09:23 AM I am amazed at how many 'rockers' there are out there..??
Nirolex 10-29-2003, 10:04 AM I'm not a rocker, but I have to agree - a rock track would go well with the engine sound.
Mine first thoughts were:
Faithless - She's my baby
Prodigy - Full Throttle
Something by Rammstein for the rock track
Other possibles:
Kylie - Spinning Around (one of a number of topical tracks - hadn't thought of New Order - Round and Round [one of my fave bands])
Would agree with many of the previous suggestions also.
Since I've gone with the MP3 player option I'll just burn a suitable selection beforehand... :D:D

Oh my god...can you remember the video that went with 'Round and Round'...just a selection of young pouting babes on a black and white 8mm movie...

The inspiration was taken from a CD which I do own, however the actual "Mazda" version is not available... was created specifically for the advertising campain.
ploszek 10-29-2003, 02:21 PM Come on Blue Adept - which CD? I've got to get it now, just to keep up my reputation for bad taste (in everything but cars of course)
renegade_si 10-29-2003, 04:46 PM I think we have already gone over this a bit before, although some of these were a mix of albums and tracks.
Amazingly I remembered cos someone else said the propellerheads album too
http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=11792
renegade_si 10-29-2003, 04:56 PM We also found a list of fitting tracks for Mazda too back in the day....
http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=10004
renegade_si 10-29-2003, 04:57 PM Its amazing how similar the lists are. Bizarrely when I was searching for propellerheads, its actually surprising to me at least how many '8 owners across the globe cite this as the best album for the car.
Must get me a copy off ebay...
Mazda man 11-01-2003, 05:41 PM Feeder - Buck Rogers
He's got a brand new car...
Metallica - Enter Sandman
Feeder - Just a day
Love that song.
Jon H 11-01-2003, 06:42 PM I think its worth mentioning that since I got my car I have left the sound system turned off. The soundtrack from the engine and exhaust is better than any CD I can think of. When you guys get yours (soon I hope!) you will know what I mean! But once the novelty wears off I think its gonna be Spearhead or Chemical Brothers.
JH
The Red One 11-01-2003, 08:10 PM Limp Bizkit's "Mission Impossible 2" track.

You can probably get it for around a fiver in Virgin et al by now. And if you like that, try a bit of Bentley Rhythm Ace as well.

I know what you mean Jon H...I had my 2nd test drive yesterday and every time I put the radio on, I fiddled with the knobs for a bit then I turned it off....the sound of the engine is like Puccini on a good day. Usually when you are doing 6,000 rpm, the engine is crying 'CHANGE GEAR'...however, the RX8 is like some hussy...'come on baby rev me more..!!'
renegade_si 11-02-2003, 12:57 PM lurcher
looks like I had read your mind already....I wonder who won this last week?
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=9991&item=2567244310
£2.80 recorded delivery lol
As for Bentley Rhythm Ace, you obviously don't know that I'm from Stourbridge and I know Clint Mansell from another set of Wolves supporters - Pop Will Eat Itself.....
so, yes, I know Bentleys - how abouit Green Jelly? Not quite so 'poppy' though. Hmmm, how about the Jamms??
Bentleys gonna sort you out.....
renegade_si 11-02-2003, 01:00 PM I just read pillmans post regarding Hussies. Hahahaha
Shame about not being able to get the Wolves Middlesborough game score, but Danny Mills is a cheating bugger....Linesman on the pitch when Mendietas goal went in? Whats that all about?
Still, not in the relegation spots even after losing to a team below us :)
