I keep hearing about the AC cycling, but isn't that normal for it to regulate the temp inside the cabin?
Also, I thought I detected agreement that the AC is a little weak on hot days...true?

I only turn on AC when my engine get extremly hot and the vents start sucking in the hot air. I will know it extra hot because the fan turns on when I turn the engine off.

I think it depends on the conditions where you live. Mine was fine in the hot August weather here in VA, though I did notice the cycling. It didn't change the cooling abilities of my a/c though.

I'm not sure if this is the cycling that I hear everyone else talking about or not, but I've noticed that my AC is somewhat weaker when I'm idling, but fine when I'm driving. Does everyone's AC cycle like that?

I'll agree that it's weaker on the fresh air setting, but it cooled fine during the dog days of summer in San Antonio (90+ and humid) when it was set to recirc mode.

Agreed, however on a really hot day, or if the car has been sitting in the hot sun, put it on recirculate until the interior feels comfortable, then change it to fresh and it will get colder than you need.

thats funny it was over 100 when i test drove mine and the ac just about froze me out of the car
It was about 80-85F when I took my test drive. About a 25 minute drive with very few stops. The A/C was on maximum and while the cockpit was not particularly uncomfortable I was rather surprised that it wasn't cooler. That being said, I did not spend any time with the climate controls so there may have been settings I wasn't aware of. Too busy driving!
We're yet to hit the peak of summer here - it's late spring, but the CCAC in my 8 seems powerfull enough. Even when the car is superheated, it takes very little time to make it nippy inside.

I live in Texas and during August and September (average temp about 95 outside) I noticed I was running A/C full blast from work to home (about a 15 mile Hiway trip) Now in my 88 Rx-7 T-II or in my Expedition I never run the A/C that hard for that long. I did the repurchase and bought a brand new 8 2 weeks ago and this A/C seems to be running much colder (we're still having 90 degree days) and i'm turning it down on the way home.
One thing I think you should do if you live in a hot climate is get a good tint job on your windows....since I've done mine I've noticed the interior is not heating up near as much...I also use a sun visor everytime I park no matter what the temp outside....I think those two things will not only keep you cool but keep your interior looking great for life. My 88 7 is still PERFECT on the inside and I think it has alot to do with the tint and using the visor every time it's parked in the sun.
