MiniCopperS also won the 'International Engine of the year 2003'. So what's the different between the one that's won by the Renesis??
Mini claim's theirs here (http://www.mini2.com/news/news.php?id=169) .
A confusing award title from Motortrend (http://www.motortrend.com/features/news/news_030604_ieoty/) .

I understand that the award pick up by the Renesis is the Grand Award, and what mini pick up is 'in it's class' but the title seems to be the same. That's the problem.

i wonder of the renisis would have one engine of the year if the judges knew it was only 238hp....

The RENESIS picked up three awards:
2.5-litre to 3-litre
Best New Engine 2003
International Engine of the Year 2003
The Mini picked up:
1.4-litre to 1.8-litre

Russel, the award is given not for the car, but for the engine itself. On that basis it the engine itself thats evaluated. It wins it's award honestly I think.
Of course, I'm sure lots think I'm wrong but oh well.
