View Full Version : Jeremy Clarkson Reviews Mazda2 Rootski 12-07-2007, 01:29 PM http://driving.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/driving/jeremy_clarkson/article2926907.ece RXLogic 12-07-2007, 07:39 PM That review isn't really about the Mazda2. It's really about cars with minimal horsepower. He could just as well be talking about my wife's Civic hybrid -- except the Mazda costs less. Only Brits can be that arrogant. The problem isn't that he's driving to fast - the problem is that those other poor dimwits are too slow. I can see his point of view, of course, but, well, the Mazda2 compares favorably performancewise to a 1970 MG or Triumph. Just because the great Jeremy Clark wants to drive a Lamboghini om public roads doesn't mean anybody who even can't afford at least an RX8 should have to ride buses. Maybe there's a market for private tollroads where they give speeding tickets for going too slow. I sure Jeremy's tongue is in his cheek there somewhere, and he is pretty funny -- but he needs to get ready for the new real world of fuel economy. OTOH, when Mazda brings the 2 to the U.S., the 1.5L should be the small engine -- and don't bother making it with an automatic transmission. ActionAttackGoose 12-07-2007, 08:06 PM I don't see Mazda bringing the 2 in its current form the US. Ford loves to cockblock Mazda, because they are fully aware that the Focus would stand no chance if the 3 was priced to compete. ASH8 12-07-2007, 08:44 PM New Mazda 2 Won RJAC COTY in Japan.
