I'm actually just dealing with my first winter in the 8 this year. I'm not a stranger to RWD in the snow, but i went out for work this morning and lost control twice. Thankfully noone was hurt and the second time pulled a 180 on the street. I hen decide to head home. I'm to assume that I'm going to need snow tires now on the 8. Are any of you NJ/PA use to the 8 in snow and can you offer any good places online to get tires for a fair price or some advice on driving this car in the snow? Thanks ahead of time.

Try to get 215-55-17 because in winter the narrower tires are better.

 

Yeah...get some snows quick! The performance tires suck when it gets cold, even when it is dry...let alone when there is snow/ice!

thanks for the advice i was looking for snow tires for my 8 as well cuz i put 295's on mine and they are way to wide and it slides all over the road

 

All season tires are fine as well, but definitely Not the stock Summer performance tires, in any snow or icing conditions. As DarkBrew suggests, most folks go with 17" rims for dedicated snow tires. Taller/more flexible sidewalls are advantageous in snow.

 

OEM tires can't handle the cold. The 2 most popular "snow" tires seem to be the Blizzak (not sure which version) and the Dunlop WinterSport M3 (which I have & they're awesome)

Find some other way to work the next day or 2 or you'll likely have similar scares. The local stores probably price match any offer you find online (+/- shipping), so find a good price online (tirerack.com, discounttiredirect.com, etc) and then see if a local shop has the tire in stock so you don't have to wait a few more days for shipping.

There's great info in the "stickies" - make it a point to at least browse each subforum and check out what info has stickie threads.

 

I just got my 8 yesterday and ordered a set of winter tires from tire rack. I got the 18's since I plan to use the OEM wheels for snow tires and will most likely get another set of wheels for summer tires.
