View Full Version : Dumb question

Last night, after dropping off a friend who lives on a dirt road, and who has a bizarre and long driveway, I accidentally backed into a ditch by the side of his driveway when leaving.

There was a thud, but I managed to easily drive out of the ditch and everything was fine and I went home (at speeds of 75+) on the highway.

I noticed a small dent in my muffler today. It is maybe a couple inches wide, and maybe a half inch deep, and was obvious because the ground that made contact with it left it clean.

The assembly and everything is solid. There don't seem to be any structural issues, and there are no holes or anything like that in the muffler or exhaust.

I'm assuming this should be a non-issue, right?

I should have just turned around in his driveway rather than backing out.

Right....shouldn't be any issue.........if that's all that hit. I do assume you looked everything over really well.

I did.

I crawled under there with a flashlight.

It looked to be the only part to make contact with the ground.

You're good to go then, unless it starts to develop a crack due to heat, but don't worry about it.

Thanks Maz.

I should be the 2nd member of this club. 2005 MT and no issues as well.
