RX8 - Can't run the 1/4 in NZ

Just came back from Mere Mere (new zealand) where they were having the friday night drag wars .
Wanted to run my 8 just to see how she went . Anyway I get to scutineering and find they won't let me run because - get this " it's a rotary - and rotary flywheels fly to bits" . They said I had to have a sheild around the bell housing before they would let me run .
What a load of crap ! This NZDRA rule would have been written a while back after a 600-700 hp RX3 blew up on the start line (my guess ) and now they apply it as a blanket rule to all rotaries . What a bunch of ******** - this is so stupid . Think about a Honda S2000 or Integra or any other high reving engine . I suppose they are OK because they use 4 stroke steel to make their flywheels - not that weak rotary steel that flys to bits !!!!!

What really pissed me off was that I went to another drag event about a month ago and got through scrutineering only to have it rain moments before taking to the track .

NOT HAPPY

wtf does rotary have to do with the flywheel?

if you're in america, sue them for being idiots. i bet you'll get a few hundred thou.

I'd be more concerned about pistons and rods flying everywhere.

sue them for what? its oviously a liability reason for them, dumb or not & a law suit would be friveless.. Why do people feel the need to sue everybody everytim something doesnt go their way?

And having people racing cars isnt a liability? The people running the track were just ignorant and thought they would have to clean up rotary flywheel and waste time doing so. They just dont understand.

I like to sue people that step on my toes so i can get new shoes.

yep.

******** suing people for no good reason. or, suing because its their fault.

the track can do whatever they want. its private property. they can exclusively ban hondas made in the last half of 2005 if they wanted to.

Just ignorant cause they have had issues before? Yes, ignorant.. Perfect choice of words for the one that needs new shoes through law suits..
