Rx8urZ 11-27-2007, 10:59 PM hope it makes it
R Magic 11-27-2007, 11:07 PM I'd hit it
I second that.. But, why are there vents on the door?
BigRed 11-27-2007, 11:34 PM nice
tajabaho1 11-27-2007, 11:34 PM looks pwn!
Juice 11-27-2007, 11:37 PM Looks like a cross between a new Eclipse and the Evo X. Definitely looks real cool though.
refugeefrompistons 11-27-2007, 11:39 PM I think there is a regulation that prevents those headlights from being that low.
dillsrotary 11-27-2007, 11:40 PM return of the gsx? I like it
Juice 11-27-2007, 11:43 PM That would be sweet if they put the Evo drivetrain in it and made it a GSX. But then there would be no need for the Evo, so i don't think they will do that.
Mikeluvs8 11-28-2007, 02:41 AM looks pretty cool!
tiggerlee 11-28-2007, 03:17 AM Looks like an RX8.
:D:
DOMINION 11-28-2007, 03:54 AM hope it makes it
True but the last one made it (4G) and the new Evo (10) make it. So I think this one will too.
Thing is I dont like it. All the Shitsu cars look alike now and this one just looks like a 2 door evo same hp after FI just fd :icon_no2:
Now if it was rd then yeah babe yeah!
Spin9k 11-28-2007, 08:45 AM Like it alot. And the lightweight materials they're using make it potentially awesome!!:icon_tup:
PRESS RELEASE: Mitsubishi Motors new "MITSUBISHI Concept-RA" to receive global premiere at 2008 Detroit Motor Show
Tokyo, November 27, 2007 - Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) and Mitsubishi Motors North America Inc. (MMNA, based in Cypress California) will premiere MITSUBISHI Concept-RA to the world at the 2008 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS or the Detroit Motor Show). MITSUBISHI Concept-RA fuses a passion for dynamic, exciting driving with a heightened sensitivity for the environment thanks to clean, efficient high performance diesel power. The 2008 NAIAS runs from January 13 to 27 at the Cobo Center in Detroit and opens to the general public on January 19.
MITSUBISHI Concept-RA shows that thrilling performance and environmental responsibility need not be mutually exclusive concepts. This coupe concept features the Super All Wheel Control (S-AWC) vehicle dynamics control system driveline and the Twin Clutch SST automated manual transmission used in Lancer Evolution*1, is powered by a new high-output, high-efficiency clean diesel engine.
*1: Lancer Evolution X in Japan
The MITSUBISHI Concept-RA S-AWC driveline adds Active Steering and Active Damping control to the ACD*2, AYC*3, Sport ABS*4 and ASC*5 component systems that comprise the system used on Lancer Evolution. S-AWC integrally manages all of these systems to realize advanced levels of control over drive torque and braking, thereby upgrading traction, cornering and vehicle stability. All this adds up to intuitive, on-demand vehicle behavior that faithfully reflects driver intent under all driving conditions, from everyday use to emergency avoidance situations.
MITSUBISHI Concept-RA is powered by a new high-efficiency, low-emissions 2.2-liter 4-cylinder DOHC 16-valve turbodiesel engine with MIVEC*6 continuously variable valve timing control. With piezoelectric injector common-rail direct fuel injection that allows a lower compression ratio and with a VD (Variable Diffuser)/VG (Variable Geometry) turbocharger, the clean diesel unit delivers a maximum output of 150 kW (204 PS) and maximum torque of 420 Nm (42.8 kg-m). For compliance with U.S. emissions standards (Tier 2 Bin 5 emission regulations), the engine relies on a new catalytic converter system that brings together diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC), NOx trap catalyst (NTC) and diesel particulate filter (DPF) technologies. The new diesel engine will deliver exciting driving manners with a high degree of fuel efficiency.
For improved crashworthiness and to reduce vehicle weight MITSUBISHI Concept-RA features a new body structure using an aluminum space frame made from extruded aluminum sections and die-cast aluminum members, as well as engine hood, fenders and other outer panels made from high impact-resistance and easily recyclable plastic resin.

Big thumbs up from me too. I also really like the turbo-diesel. This may sound odd coming from an RX-8 owner, but I do feel guilty about sending fuel dollars to terrorist sympathizers. For my next car (whenever that may be), I'd definitely like a fuel efficient sports car.
Cheers
termigni 11-28-2007, 10:56 AM I'll take this one in dark silver with red alcantara interior.
Design1stCode2nd 11-28-2007, 01:00 PM Looks good and diesel, imagine that.
gh0st 11-29-2007, 10:33 AM build it!
TALAN7 11-29-2007, 03:11 PM Drawing looks good! Let's see how that translates to real concept then even still production version. The current Eclipse looks ugly.

Spin9k 11-30-2007, 09:02 AM I know it's grossly unfair comparing artist renderings to cold reality, but I have to admit that looking at the two pics above, that the Mitsu looks sleek and smooth, cool and dynamic; the Kabura looks lumpy, with mismatched shapes, busy with bulbous curves ruining the sense of "dynamic flow" that Mazda is always blabering about.
I'd take that Mitsu in a heartbeat if it was as good inside as it looks outside, minus the 24" wheels!

You're right. The Mitsubishi, even though it's an artist redering, looks better than the Mazda. The Kaura is not very good looking, nice but not drool nice. Same thing with the RX8. Still, an artists rendering and a real car do not an equal comparison make.
TALAN7 11-30-2007, 12:07 PM I must say though, Mitsubishi is very good at making what they render.
Spin9k 01-12-2008, 08:24 AM At the Detroit Auto Show - THOSE GUYS STOLE OUR NEW WHEELS!
http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/ff266/spin9k/mitsu-ra.jpg
Spin9k 01-12-2008, 09:15 AM Interesting now that I study the pic more is how the door sheet metal appears to be integral to the front wheel arches and the 'fender vents' are actually in the door lol! Must vent the cabin not the engine!
77mjd 01-12-2008, 10:58 AM Screw the concept! As long as that thing is RWD, just throw the current Eclipse engine in there and lets roll it out now!
Rhawb 01-12-2008, 11:17 AM So basically, they took a drawing of the new Eclipse, smashed down the headlights and taillights, then said "TA-DA! New concept car!"
Not very impressed, it looks heavy and awkward, much like the current Eclipse. I guess if I had to pick between this and the current Eclipse, I'd take this.
TurboEight 01-12-2008, 06:37 PM It dosen't do anything for me...
briann 01-12-2008, 06:40 PM The back looks like it could be the front :lol2:

Phade2 01-12-2008, 09:31 PM The rear looks like they took it from the porsche cayman. I like it....way better than the current eclipse.
