Think about it, what REALLY sucks about it? I mean, it is awesome exposure for the car, which is a good thing, and i really don't think that the fact that it's britney means that there should now be pink stickers and flowers all over it... thats the thing, I dont want exposure to the car until price drops :\. Plus the car loses its uniqueness if everyone has one / knows what it is.

Well, Mazda said from the get go that this, while being a great car, was not going to be a low production car. They have always planned on large production numbers... This car is more of a good way to get the rotary back on the roads... maybe later they will develop an exotic, but remember:

1. This car is priced VERY low (i.e. priced comparable to the many MANY SUVs on the road that nearly every middle-classed family owns)
2. This car is VERY practical, as far as ease of entry/exit, and sheer storage space (for a small car)

Two things that most exotics are not.

You wanting a low priced/unique car is kind of an oxymoron...

very true. It is a good thing that they are promoting the car BUT who else would notice that it was an rx-8 unless they focused more on the mazda symbol like in britneys video. But like i was saying, who else would notice the car unless you actualy knew about the car

It makes me sick to think that, not only do I have to deal with the little boy's in the low ride Honda's flashing their lights and giving me the thumbs up. I now have to deal with the teenage girls saying "thats the car from the new Britney video" arrrggghhhhhhhhhh!! X-men, Britney, Ludacris. Whats next?

I saw the video, and the car looked awesome in it. I've worked with a few bands on their music videos and it's always the artist's or producer's choice. So Brittany, or one of her producer's own, or like the RX8. Madonna was in the video too, so you can't really know who wanted that particular car. Just be thankful it wasn't riced out. And hey, at least you can say that your car wasn't in the Fast and the Furious.

I think the album is called "Me against the music" or something like that, or that could be the song, but it's the first video off of that album.

As a developer I'm qualified to be very pissed off when other developers release web applications without testing them using the latest browsers. That movie access system doesn't work with IE-6 OR Netscape 7. Pathetic!

Can anyone grab the video and post it please?

Works fine with both IE6 and Netscape 7... you have to have windows media player installed though.

Hmmm. Well it's not working fine with MY IE-6 and N7. Netscape is detected as a pre-4.7 version and IE fails to get past the connection check application. I can see the sample video but clicking on the 'See Video' button only restarts it. Odd.

i wonder if any other artist will use the rx-8 in their music video. But that X-men movie does come out soon, so you could get the movie and watch that scene with the 8 in it over and over and over

My girlfriend told me about the 8 in the Britney video- thanks for the link - at least it satisfied my curiousity. It defintely looked like a product placement for the 8- look how well (and evenly) lit it was on the side angle- and the close up on the nose/mazda logo. Nothing else in the video was lit to be featured that prominently. The Ludacris video on the other hand just showed the 2 doors of the 8 open- nothing else so it was most likely the director's choice (or maybe the artists) I know the director (and producer is my GF's cousin so I can find out for sure how that worked) - and I can't wait to see him again to ask about the 8 and mention I got one (of course he can afford any vehicle he wants...)

The ludacris video was great- extremely funny and perhaps the best use of special FX (digital) I have seen in a long while used for any real storytelling at least it was funny!!- I loved the peeing baby shot and the 20 foot afro) Waay- off topic- but I just finsihed shooting my very first music video tonight for a friends band- all greenscreen- and they are getting pretty hot right now in the media- so if it runs on MTV or VH1 (which it probably will) I'll post back- or at least give a link.
