A few Q's on The 8

hey Guys..

I've recently picked up a 2004 Rx8 with Leather Pack (i think u's call it the GT) and have a few questions:

i) I noticed a cable running from the middle of the center pillar into the Passngers seat (ie near where u lock the seatbelt into). The Passenger seat is all manual adjustment so i have no idea what this cable is for. Any Ideas?

ii) What is that sticker looking thing in front the the Rear wheel arches???

iii) I've taken the front bumper off and realised the foam behind it is missing. Is this an issue?

Thanks!

um

i) Seat belt indicator or airbag is all i would figure. Passenger is manual, is the drivers seat power?.

ii) Sticker? My car came with no stickers. Do you have a pic?

iii) yes

1.) Do you have seat warmers? Two buttons at your hip on the center console? Bingo!

2.) There are threads to this fact, you can search for that info, but believe it or not.......I think they are stone guards........yes, I know they are in front of the wheels. I'll see if I can find the thread and post a link here if I find it. I think I remember someone taking them off, but there is no vent behind there, so leave them alone! https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...t=stone+guards

3.) You don't have to have the foam, but I wouldn't be thrilled if I didn't have it. I'm sure it is support, some minor impact cushion, and maybe something else.

III - the foam is a "5mph bumper"... So yeah, you should replace it.

So you don't have two rocker switches just behind the shifter and in front of the storage bin/ cup holders?

Yeah, it might be, I'll look at the diagrams later...I just can't remember due to old age! I just took that damn seat out about three weeks ago and had to unplug two connectors, so you'd think I would remember! Ugh! I know one was for my warmers! Not sure about the other??????
I was installing a new leather handbrake and was easier just to yank that seat out.

Thanks for all the responses guys..

Just one more question!

There is this really annoying constant rattling behind the steering wheel (right behind the horn). I have removed the panels behind the steering wheel and tightened every screw i could find but the noise is still there. I even taped the piece of red plastic that shines onto the key!!

I'm not sure/game enought to remove the cover for the horn, worry if i'll stuffup the air bag.

Any more wisdom u's can share??

BTW: the rattling goes away when i pull the top of the horn towards me when i drive!

I did do checks before i got the car, so pretty sure it hasn't been in a accident...
I think the previous owner probably removed it as there was a kit on the car.
Going to get a few quotes and get it replaced asap

good plan, glad to hear no accidents for you, youll have a blast just maintain it and drive it properly! It took me a while to get the " steet racer wannabe" attitude out, but once you take that first off ramp at 115 its instant love!!!
