Quasiturbine engine - the next Rotary engine?? http://quasiturbine.promci.qc.ca/ This site is in french, but its easy to understand (scroll down for some cool 2- and 3-D animations of the engine in action). There is also a video of a chainsaw with this weird engine. Apparantly produces (much) more power than an equivalent size rotary engine.

i dont know if it has been brought up on this forum but www.moler.com has some near rotary powered aircraft.
