When i bought my car (used) the oem shift knob was all scratched up. Im thinking about just painting it black. The problem is i cant get the silver part off. Anyone know how to take it off?

If this doesnt go to well then im just going to buy a voodoo shift knob.

Here are some pics of what i mean.

as a side note my center console trim is also scratched which i hear is pretty common. Anyone know where i can get cheap replacements and not mazdaspeed ones?

Damn! Looks like the previous owner used it as a chew toy for his dog. :shocking:

Why take it off? Just tape off the leather sides and center, sand up the silver and paint away.

If you use conventional spray paint, it'll come right off within days.

I wouldn't paint it. I'd buff it.

mine is much worse than yours. I tried to take it off and paint it but I don't know how to take it off, so I just live with it.
I tried to put some tape but it seems that it is very hard to cover and have 100% best result.
The problem is that this part is plastic and its natural colour is brown.
