Has anyone tried running with this yet? I was about to order it, but it appears im going to need an OEM PCM Wiring Diagram in order to install this.
Any info would be appreciated.

MazdaManiac 11-11-2007, 10:50 PM The PCM wiring diagram is on my site. I was talking with a forum member a while back - I don't remember his forum name, but his real name is Claudio - and he was working on wiring an E11 to the RX-8. I don't know what cam of that. As far as I know, the Haltec does support the RX-8 ESS trigger. VarneyMazda 11-12-2007, 11:11 PM if you dont mind me asking why wouldnt you just run the mazsport interceptor? Locally we have a few FC and FD owners who know how to wire up a Haltech on the 7s, but none who have done it with an 8. I think working together we should be able to get this done. I need to contact Haltech and see if their Universal Harness requires tapping each of the PCM wires, or just the particular needed ones. The E11 is a full standalone, yes? I think his project is a lot larger than what im aiming for with the interceptor unit. The car is still a daily driver, so i didnt want to loose the benefits provided by keeping the OEM PCM operations in tact. if you dont mind me asking why wouldnt you just run the mazsport interceptor?I had the Mazsport Interceptor unit before on my blue car and it worked great with the Greddy Kit. I'm doing a new build on the white car, and sold the interceptor to a local owner. This time around I wanted to try out the Haltech unit to see if it provides any advantages over the Microtech based one. -hS MazdaManiac 11-13-2007, 02:05 AM if you dont mind me asking why wouldnt you just run the mazsport interceptor? Because the Haltec is to the Microtec (Int-X) as HDTV is to 8mm. glenn 11-13-2007, 05:52 AM Because the Haltec is to the Microtec (Int-X) as HDTV is to 8mm. That may be true compared to the E11 but the Haltech interceptor is just a sensor bender, not a true ems. I wouldn't use one on my RX-8. I have a friend using the E11 on his 13B turbo lancer racecar and I haven't seen any advantage over the microtech on my FD. He has had a lot more hassles with it than I have ever had with the Microtech. In a street application the E11 would probably be the better ECU (higher resolution) but they are a lot harder to tune. I would say 90% of the rotaries in Australia use Microtechs. MazdaManiac 11-13-2007, 09:50 AM I'm not familiar with the Haltec Interceptor. The microtec software is so archaic and the tables posses such a low granularity that getting anything even remotely like an OEM tune is not possible. zoom44 11-13-2007, 12:01 PM Fuel/Ignition Tuning 16 load sites * 16 rpm sites User configurable load and rpm axis sites -100% to +100% fuel adjustment range with 0.4% resolution -16 to +16 degree ignition range with 0.25 degree resolution Dual switch selectable fuel, ignition and boost maps Tuning done on laptop with fast, intuitive windows graphical software . MazdaManiac 11-13-2007, 12:15 PM Those sound almost like EMU specs, though the Haltech Interceptor won't do split or sub-injector and has fewer aux controls. zoom44 11-13-2007, 01:04 PM yup. had to dig for that info tho- they arent very illuminating on the surface TeamRX8 11-13-2007, 10:06 PM the wiring diagram is on THIS site please reconsider, IMO Haltech + RX-8 = big mistake .... :uhh: Motec + RX-8 = no brainer .... :) .. MazdaManiac 11-14-2007, 02:14 AM +1 on the Motec, though you will be giving up all semblance of OE control and the resultant Christmas tree. Razz1 11-14-2007, 10:32 PM ^ That's one of the best avitars youv'e posted in a long time. Claudio RX-7 01-12-2008, 09:36 PM Hey MazdaManiac, Long time no speak. If you remember our conversations about the Haltech on an RX-8 the only problem currently is that the tirgger from the RX-8 is not applied to the firmware for rotary duty. This is still on the back burner for now as far as priority list from Haltech. If i can find a RX-8 car that would let me install an E11v2 onto it i am 200% confident that we can make it work, the only catch is that the FD trigger needs to be used so we can trigger the Haltech with that. Im also sure that the Haltech can control all the auxiliary butterflies. If i get one running then Haltech will probably put the trigger in there for a next firmware release and the RX-8 community will have another very capable platform for tuning. MazdaManiac 01-12-2008, 10:47 PM I've wanted to do the E11 since we were talking about it some months back, but I didn't want to run two trigger wheels and I am not giving up the features that are connected the the SE3P wheel. I've been twiddling with a friend's E8 for the past few days. The interface (HalWin v1.71) is really, really nice. Actually, I think you may have had a phone convo with him about his saturated injectors on Thursday or Friday. Actually, I think you may have had a phone convo with him about his saturated injectors on Thursday or Friday. Was that 3Faced? Yeah, he had low imp. injectors and had the driver setup to 2A, should be 5A or 8A. I can honestly say that the Haltech is capable of controlling all the intake butterflies and the auxiliary air intake ports. I just need a car to put this on. Anybody wanna help? MazdaManiac 01-12-2008, 11:25 PM Well, you supply the hardware and I'll do the install! BTW - The guy with the '7 vert that called you was "Boxcar". But that was the problem. I had suspected that when we first started playing with it, but I didn't know any specs for his injectors, so I didn't want to over-drive them accidentally. |
