If she'd have hugged a tree, she'd be loved by the system.

We parents / students are the customers, when will the schools realize this?
Teachers and coaches think they are the parents of these kids.
I have to deal with this crap everyday lately.

You apparently can't play tag or touch football at school anymore either. I still remember playing cowboys and indians where we pretened to shoot each other with cap guns. And that was at a Lutheran School. They did ban that later though.

sex probably = execution soon

good, we can get rid of excess population, and discourage even more conception, yay!~ this is actually a population reduction policy in disguise!

I live in prodominatly Latin city (Miami) and even I being a caucasian give girls a kiss on each cheek to say hello and goodbye. It is practically rude not to here.

I went to a middle school and high school that had the same PDA rules, but they never batted an eyelash at people giving hugs and kisses goodbye. It is meant to be a rule for Inappropriate displays of effection, not ALL displays of effection.
I think its ridiculous and harmfull to the kids social development.

Cant these people remeber when they were kids, or have they totaly forgotten?

Now I can understand if she was making out with a boyfriend, but since when is a hug considered a demeaning from of affection? In many countries a hug and kiss to both cheeks is the norm.

Displays of affection should not occur on the school campus at any time. It is in poor taste, reflects poor judgment, and brings discredit to the school and to the persons involved

Interesting how the article didn't mention if the friends were male or female.

I know it's sounds dumb, but hugging has become the new handshake for kids. And most of these hugs aren't the "arm around the shoulder" kind. Even so, I think it's dumb to institute behavioral policies that don't serve to protect the other students.

And people wonder why the privit schools are booming as well as home schooling.

A Wisconsin school just expelled a 4 year old for having a small amount of weed in his backpack. The kid clearly had no idea what it was and just tossed it in his backpack, yet they expelled him from kindergarten...

I can't stand the people that have the stance that "the rules are the rules". Things like considering someones intention and common sense should also be used when enforcing rules...

Sometimes I think about becoming a teacher. Note to self, revise future plans to exclude employment in public schools.

Offtopic: Ike - Why did you have to remind me you live in WI? So much for thinking this was a great state to raise my children in...first there's the public education system, now Ike

geeez.
The principal is probably jealous she didn't give him a hug.

So no wonder our kids are getting fat! Next will be soccer banned during recess because a kid got a ball in the face, then you can't run because some kid tripped. What is the message we are telling our kids? No hugging, playing, etc...

thats a pretty sad story..i would to see them try and do that in Southern cali...

...a hug in high school and junior high/middle school is more common than actual dialog for some...

and if there are no more hugs...how can the fat ugly girls that hang outside by the cafeteria feel normal??

AlanAndCharlene
11-10-2007, 03:07 PM
I don't know, I have had a few arousing hugs in my day.

I think they must write the rules more specific.

For instance, same sex hugs are allowed providing that niether party is gay.

Older guys cannot hug younger girls with out parental consent.

Teachers or coaches can never hug a student with or without parental consent.

If you check page 374, paragraph 1.a, you will see that this girl clearly violated the rules and was punished accordingly.

Soon we will all have to live with electric collars sewn to our necks, so appropriate punishment can be dispensed immediately.

Then we can all get the shits of that and start over with no rules.

I don't think it had much with "rules are rules" as much as it was showing someone a lesson.

For instance, if the weed was say, his parents. They'd feel guilty their stupid habbit getting their 4 year old son expelled from school, hopefully after that they'd quit. Then again, after a drunk driver kills someone in a wreck, some of them still test the waters of drinking and driving after the fact...So whose to say that since your habbit got your kid expelled that you'd want to quit. =

- That's how I see that being played out...

As for weed itself...No idea why it's so taboo, but hey, rules are rules after all ;)

we still play dodgeball just not with "heavy" rubber balls. they are foam "gator" balls. and its still a ton of fun.

and when i was in 8th grade they started to put stupid rules like this in my school for hugging. they wouldnt give you a detention but they would get on to you for giving that person a hug. now in my highschool pda is almost never stopped. i see 5+ couples making out during every passing period. but hey...what do u expect when living in las vegas =P
