Does anyone know whether a black RX-8 die-cast (1:18?) is available? I tried E-Bay and the AutoArt sites and couldn't seem to find one.

Just keep checking, I've seen them there before.

I have the Titanium RX-8 from AutoArt. Tempted to use my post-order gift of Touchup paint on it. But it would be easier if AutoArt added black to the choices. Don't they realize how much more business they are going to get? First, all the owners of black will want one. Second, all the owners that really liked black but got a different color for ease of show/shine maintenance will want one. Those two groups almost equal 100% of the RX-8 owners!:D

who knows with auto art, their horribly unorganized website has models listed as "coming soon" for months at a time but even now doesn't have a black 8 on it (only yellow, titanium, red) and i seriously doubt they'll ever make one with the appearance package added...

Here's the information on the black die-cast.

You can order the models direct from AutoArt in Hong Kong.

There are two models available:

#75924 Mazda RX8 ( black) LH Drive and #75929 Mazda RX8 ( black) RH Drive. The cost for each is $64.95 USD plus shipping and handling. Shipping to Philadelphia for one model was $8 USD.

They can ship 6 in a carton so in principle they could send out a bunch for a group buy. But they didn't say anything about a discount for a group buy. And I doubt that even if you could negotiate a discount, it would be substantial on a $65 purchase. So, given the relatively inexpensive shipping, I'm guessing it makes more sense for people to order individually.

You can write to AutoArt at contact@gatewayglobal.com. Tell them your mailing address and tell them what you'd like to order. They'll respond by telling you the shipping charge to your home and they'll also send an order form via a .GIF file. You then print out and fill out the form, enclose a personal check, and send it to Hong Kong. They say it will take a few weeks until your check clears.

They have been very nice to deal with.

Go back and re-read when this post was first put up. It was long before Gate even offered the model. I know there are many on Ebay, as this is how I bought one. I also sent money into Gate when they first offered the model. Well my check has been cashed and I have no model in hand. :(

I would like a response from Gate as to where my model is, not a comment on where to find one!! :mad:

Perhaps you should check the dates of the posts. At the time the first posts were written the black die-casts were not available so there would not have been any available through google, e-bay, etc.

The in-laws have brought one for me for birthday..... a birdie told me. They are not cheap in HK. About HK$500 or $70 retail. How do they get $40 from? Anyway it is a gift. Not my birthday yet so have not seen it. So just stuck with the car at the moment

One of my coworkers wants a yellow one, which I got for x-mas, but I really want a black one so he ordered a black one and we are just going to swap.

The Autoart's look great and I want to keep one on my desk now that I work for Mazda but I am afraid of it getting accidentally broken as I had a coworker drop an S2000 of mine when I worked fro Honda. Fortunately, it was a Maisto that I picked up for $10 and not one of my expensive Autoart models.

I wish that Maisto made an RX-8 so I could keep a less expensive one up here at work but I guess I can just keep the RX-8 attached to the base or just get one of the 1/43 models for my desk.

I have 1/43 from AutoArt - but it is not black. It looks great anyhow but I won't display on my desk since IT IS NOT BLACK!

An update: I received a sales invoice from AA Collection Ltd., showing that my check has been received. Perhaps the model will be on the way...

I have just received the black die-cast from Hong Kong. It took a while but it is quite beautfiul.

As it turns out, I now have a titanium grey (real size) RX-8 so will probably want to sell the black model. If you're interested, PM me.

BTW don't you have one to drive/play with anyway?

There are no Black, Sunlit Silver, White, or Dark Green RX-8 1:18 scale. Kind of wierd that the two of the most popular colors aren't made.

that's weird cuz i don't remember painting my 1:18 or my 1:43 scale ones black! hehehe...

i bought mine from ebay for around $40 and the 1:43 i got from Mazda...the 1:1 is still the best though
