Hi all,
I had a bad experience today, and I believe it is fuel related.
I'll keep you informed as to the actual diagnosis once I know the facts.
If it is the fuel I'll give the fuel company a chance to redeem themselves before I badmouth them and say who they are, and what product it was.
See this thread for my writeup on events, as it happend during a cruise with fellow forum members...

Hi Hymee,
Thanks for the pics. I am guessing the top pic shows water settled to the bottom of a container. The second pic looks like into the plastic fuel tank. Assuming all the contamination is water it would be interesting to see the fuel filter cut open. There could be a lot of rust in it but, thankfully, not from your car's plastic tank :)

The first picture also showed how milky the fuel was. The filter should be OK, as the flow was OK. I hope it isn't clogged, as it gets replaced with the whole fuel pump assembly - it is one integrated unit! Apparently it all gets replaced at the 60,000km service:eek:
BTW - thankfully there didn't seem to be any evidence of "solids" in the fuel.

They pumped out as much as possible with the fuel pump. For some unknown reason the fuel pump will only pump the tank half empty - really weird.
Anyway, the rest of it we drained out. And gave the tanks a good clean out to remove any residue. Refilled with fuel and AOK. No PCM codes and performace appeared back to normal.

Time for an update...
I got a letter from Caltex Australia's insurance/loss adjusters, offering to cover my costs (but no more), and sign a disclaimer for future claims related to this matter, AND to sign a secrecy clause.
I crossed out the secrecy clause and returned it signed. They sent it back again with the secrecy clause in tact for me to re-sign. I also re-worded the no future claims nonsense. What sort of lame duck do they think I am?
I have not signed it yet so I am letting you all know. I have given them enough of a chance for them to appease me.
Cheers,
Hymee.
PS. Next step - Place a "water in petrol - get yours here" sign outside the site. :p
