Just curious to see what the highest gear is that you have hit the limiter with.
Personally, I have hit it with 1st, 2nd and 3rd so far.

Would it be possible to hit the limiter in reverse?
I think its cool that the digital speedometer reports speed in reverse unlike analog speedometers.
Anyone willing to try?

There was a thread on the s2k website about hitting the limiter in reverse - it sounds very scary! Rear wheel steering!

dammit, this forum doesn't have a bs flag. though, i guess technically i could hit redline in 6th too if my car was on jackstands.

heh 3 now =p

i guess the other possibility would be drafting behind a gas turbine peterbuilt on the bonneville salt flats...who knows, may be able to redline in 6th there too

I bounced off the rev-limiter the other day in 2nd and I was actually surprised by how un-harsh it was. I definately noticed it since I stopped going faster, but it wasn't a super harsh cutoff. I hit rev-cut in my jeep once in second gear (somewhere around 5500 or so - 4.0L inline 6) and it felt like I ran into a brick wall. I've also hit the fuel cut in the FD and it's also very abrupt, although that was in first gear so I would expect it to be harsher.

I hit Redline in 4th.
Pretty cool cause redline in 4th is slightly over 100MPH. Too bad I needed to slow down for a turn. (No good roads to go real fast around here, they all have cops on them. So I go fast on the back country roads, more fun anyway).

1-3rd hear. i just turned over 1k miles this weekend. we have plenty of long perfect straights here to open the car all the way even in 6th so i am looking forward to it.

P.S. damn that 6th gear 150 mph gov. its going to piss off a lot of people.

Quite apart from the limiter, I believe that the gearing in 6th is too tall for maximum speed - you can actually eke out more top end in 5th.

count me in 3rd gear as i did this mornign on my way to work. had to wait for this 5 series to move over a lane and then i had a nice clear road:D i wasn't watching the speedo closely just the road and waiting for the chime but i think it's about 88mph? hehe still 3 gears left!!!!!;)
