Hi guys,
I'm a newbie to the forums and am in the process of trying to decide if I want to purchase an RX-8.
Has anyone in Calgary driven their RX-8 through the winter? With a set of winter tires how bad is this car in the snow?
Thanks guys!

thanks for the input.
If I do end up driving it in the winter I'll throw on a set of 205/55/R17s.
I currently drive a saab 92-x awd in the winter. I also have a 2004 accord that my fiancee uses.
If I can drive the rx-8 through the winter I'm thinking of selling the accord in late Jan/Early Feb and picking up a Rx-8. I'm thinking that they will be a little bit cheaper to pickup during the winter (maybe I'm dreaming) and I might be able to get a good deal on a used 2004 GT.
If not I guess I can wait till the spring to pick one up.

Most of the Calgary rx8clubbers drive theirs in the snow. It's not too bad. Sometimes the ABS is a bit too sensitive compared to my other cars, and starting uphill on ice can be tough.

Seems to be lots of people in the toronto and london area driving through the winter. This'll be my first winter with the 8.

Thanks guys,
Looks like I'll be getting an Rx-8 fairly soon.
How much should i expect to pay for a 2004 RX-8 GT used? I'm trying to decide whether to go with a used or a new one.

Winter was fun (really it was:)). It was my first winter with the 8 last year, and my first winter with a RWD ever. Other than the really deep snow, and uphill on ice as Little RX-8 said, I didnt have many issues, and most of my driving is strictly highway. On and off ramps were a bit of a problem, but taking it slow, she was a real trooper. :smoker:
Welcome to the club. Look for Calgary's Dirtiest RX-8 thread sometime this winter after a chinook.. LOL!

Thanks guys, I guess I'll go for it and jump on an Rx-8 as soon as I find the right one.

Love my 92x. I am actually thinking of heading down to van to pickup an Rx-8. The cars are soo much cleaner over there :)

Are you driving it back from Van? Or shipping it?
Enjoy the drive if you are driving back in it. Loads of fun.
