I ask because talking to my dealer the other day, he said they have something like 30 RX-8 pre-orderers on file. This is a small dealership chain with four showrooms across Fife & Tayside, two of them Mazda.

Speak up, silent majority. :)

afternoon lurcher, how did you hit 120 posts without coming across me?

ordered from arnold clarks in stirling back in may, two days after seeing a 100 word review without pictures in the evening times.

always loved the last gen RX-7, so now is my chance to jump on the bandwagon.

arnolds claim to be the biggest single dealer of madza's in the UK, and supposedly have over 20 orders in stirling alone.

(if you're dundee based are you listenig to the football? sounds like deadlock at dens park, clyde's playing the celtic - hearts game, they're now five down at the start of the second half???)

Hi KEF, yeah I had seen you and a couple of others from Glasgow, plus some more from around Stirling, but further East and North seems to be a barren wasteland. I've seen nobody at all from Edinburgh which is surprising. Maybe we're just technologically backwards over here. ;)

I've never really followed football, rather perverse with two teams to choose from here. But then despite living 20 miles from St Andrews/Carnoustie, I've never liked golf either - maybe it's overexposure that did it.

One of my work colleagues is sniffing for cars at the moment and is lusting after a 3rd gen RX-7, reckons he can pick up a reasonably good one 93/94 for 5-6k. He's been a little scared by all the reliability stories though - perhaps he'll be encouraged when my 8 arrives. Would be great to have two rotaries sitting together in the car park...

While not exactly living it up north of the border anymore, I am still Scottish of birth (and the next 22 years after that!), so living in England has not dented my accent a bit.

Welcome lurcher to all that is rx8, even if you have been about for a while! :D

Shouldn't your handle be Irn-Bru then ;).

my girlfried has just quit her job at Barrs, damn there goes my supply of Irn Bru.

on the plus side she's just joined a corporate insurance company so she's going to take a look at my quotes for me.

(now I've got to pay for my irn bru addiction out of my own pocket, and you guys are worrying about delivery dates, you've got your priorities all wrong;) )

I'll put my hand up to being Scottish too.

I've ordered from a certain dealership in Glasgow which, sadly, KEF had a bad experience with before!

To be honest, their sales staff were the most open and knowledgeable AND the first to offer any chance of a test drive, so they got my order. When I ordered, they had about 10 other pre-orders.

AC in Stirling was just a bit too far out of Glasgow for me when it comes to servicing, etc.

I'm as English as they come, but if my car arrives before Xmas I will be in Dundee with the RX8 to stay with my inlaws.

Says the man from Glasgow, where my MX-5 has been broken into TWICE! :)

Mind you, in both cases the thieves were of distinctly poor quality and couldn't work out how to open the boot - came back to a smashed window and an open bonnet. ;)

They were just playing with it.. if they'd wanted to steal it they would have :D :D

Seriously..sorry to hear that. Glasgow or Dundee, its just like anywhere else - have good areas and bad areas, good luck and bad luck!
In over 20 years of owning a car, I've had none stolen and only 2 break ins. (touches wood...)

Murphy.. that wouldn't be Queensborough Mazda that had the 10 preorders? I looked at their preorders list when I placed my order back in Sept :).

As far as I can tell I've got the only one in the capital so far. Still haven't seen any others on the road.

Feeling a bit guilty reading about how long everyone is having to wait. We got bought ours from Perth (same as our mx5, highly recommended) as a pre-registered. Test drove it on the saturday in edinburgh, phoned perth on the monday and drove home our shiny new red rx8 on the friday. 6 days! Ok so we are the 2nd owner, but with only 3 miles on the clock. I noticed Falkirk and Dundee Mazda were doing to same with having pre-registered cars available for those who can't wait.

Good old Struan in Perth. They had a silver with cloth on speculative too.
Take it you are not bothered about not getting the Prodrive day with you being the second owner and all that?

Yeah, I had forgot to mention that to them. Need to give them a phone some time and see if I can still get it. Wasn't an issue though as they had a red high power with red/black leather sitting outside and it was exactly what we wanted. Couldn't have turned it down!

Enjoy.

Had mine for 17 days and it is just fantastic.
Went over to Auld Reekie on Saturday night there and cant believe the number of discussions started in the Ocean Terminal car park. From bonny fife so not far away from you.

Got my 8 a few backs fellow Scots. Im in Preston but do the journey up to Glasgow every now and then to see the folks.

Are there a few of us up in Glasgow with 8's now or while I look "different" when I go up in a few weeks?

ello,

a bit late with my response eh, but just found this forum :-) I am in sunny falkirk(?) and just waiting delivery of my nice shiny red rx8 hopefully on the 18th Dec. woo hoo.

I have still only seen one on the road, that was a silver in edinburgh.

My missus was sitting behind one the other day thinking 'ooh thats nice, wonder what it is' then realised was an 8 the same as the one we are getting :-) hehe women eh ;-)
