so, its time to replace my 8's tires, so i need some opinions, ive had my 8 a year, got about 30k miles on it. its had some dunlop's on it for the past year, its what came on it.

basically, I am not looking for anything special, I do alot of interstate driving, some curvy urban road driving, but mostly interstate/highways, I am looking for the best type of tires for that at a reasonable, price, ive quoted on kuhmo's and another brand that now that im reading the mechanic's handwritting i cant read.


someone gimme some ideas that would be good for my type of driving.

Kumho SPT's

 

im currently looking for tires myself, my choices are either kumho SPTs or potenza RE050 pole positions

 

Kumho SPT's are the single most popular tire for our car and others. I think they fit your needs.

Reviews typically indicate they are (1) the quietest, (2) best wet traction, (3) last the longest, (4) moderately good dry traction (not as good as the OEM bridgestone and dunlop though), and (5) the cheapest to buy.

Criticisms include (a) soft side wall that gives too much while hard cornering and (b) lots of squeal while cornering at the limit, possibly due to the tread design combined with soft side walls.

 

I love the 050 Pole Positions. Quieter than the 040's. Read the Tire Rack ratings & they come out on top. I just hope they wear as well as my 040's did (25k).

 

I have been using the Bridgestones, but have about 12,000 miles on them and they are already worn.....and I don't drive all that hard. Should they be wearing out that quickly???

So basically you just need a set of tires. Any tire can drive on a "curvy urban" road. Buy whatever lasts the longest.

 

Is your car dropped, or do you have any suspension work done? 12,000 miles is really pre-mature if you are only doing normal driving. Your camber and/or alignment may be off, and that will affect your tires.
