So i like chocolate glazed with basically anything on top or plain. yum

If we're talking true doughnuts, then chocolate cake with chocolate frosting. If we can expand to a wider confectionary definition of doughnut, then I'm awfully fond of bearclaws and raspberry bismarks.

Morgan, you're right. Krispy Kreme has the BEST donuts.

Paula Dean made a sweet potato donut that seemed to be freaking amazing but I have yet to try it.

I think my favorite donut would have to be a French Kruller, Sour Creme, or Whole Wheat. I know. Weird. Boston Creme ranks pretty high too.

i have to say that i have never had a krispy kreme donut, but i bet i have had a donut that barely any of you have had. its called a texas donut, and it is about a foot and a half in diameter, its huge, and the best donut EVER!

There's a tradition over here that upon promotion, you're supposed to buy doughnuts....

My friend and I got promoted the same week so we decided to do a scientific study on the doughtnut preferences of our coworkers. We bought both Dunkin and Krispy Kreme, and had a sheet where we requested that people check off what type of doughtnut they took.

We each bought two boxes over two days, (two KK, two DD).

On both days, with different samples of eaters (different parts of the building) the KK would always go away first and the enjoyers would mostly track their selection. DD eaters were ashamed to admit that they ate DD (they mostly did not bother to mark down their doughtnut selection).

Because of the results of our study, most people will now choose Krispy Kreme over Dunkin Donuts when bringing in doughnuts to share.

Okay guys, in defense of Dunkin Donuts (I consider myself to be something of a connoisseur), they have the absolute best donuts if you can get them hot out of the fryer.

I mean, don't get me wrong, I'll eat a hot Krispy Kreme glazed donut any day, but DD tastes better fresh. The problem is they don't bake in-store anymore, so you may never get the chance to know. :icon_no2:

And just for the record - PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PLEASE STOP USING "FROSTING" AND "GLAZE" INTERCHANGEABLY. It's one of the most teeth-grindingly, ignorant, irritating, fastest-way-to-annoy-the-clerk things you can do!!!! :banghead:

sorry flea but I could guarantee I would tell the difference. A friend of mine growing up was Vegan and I think I tried just about everything she would eat; there is a difference in taste and it was more noticable in the 'sweets' then anything else she made me eat.

Nope.. You wouldnt be able to tell.. I am not one of those vegans that eat all that wierd nasty crap like falafal and sh!t... I think the fake chocolates and stuff are horrible.. But the donuts.. I swear, you cannot tell a difference at all. It doesnt take aolt of animal product to make a donut in the first place.. Other than removing the egg you have a vegan donut mix, you can use egg replacer and you have your donut..

Flea: no offense but how do YOU know what I would be able to taste?

I don't think I've ever had a SINGLE donut!!!! Can you buy them that way???!!! I thought they only came in dozens!!!! :) :)

But the best donuts I ever had were ones that my grandmother used to make. Mix up the dough, heat up the oil in the deep fryer, cook the donut, sprinkle (or dump) on the powdered sugar and you got pure ambrosia!!!!!!
