well i finally got new wheels last week and i think its time to start looking at modding the suspension. here's a link (http://www.rx8club.com/showpost.php?p=2104271&postcount=799) to my wheel post.

so my first impressions are this:
the front wheel gap is large, needs to be smaller.
the rear wheel gap is ok, but could still be smaller.
there is noticeable understeer now with the staggered setup.

my first thought is to get some Tein S-Tech's as they lower the front more than the rear and have higher spring rates than stock. my questions are what should i do to my suspension to help remedy some of the understeer? should i also look at getting a stiffer sway bar or anything else?

If you dont drive around with a lot of people in your car and you plan on upgrading later then Tein S-Tech or Tein Basic will be great for you.
But if you do then dont wast money and get the KW's. I asked a lot of people and they all seam to point me back to the KW Coilovers. Thats what I'm geting.

If you add an adjustable shock like the Koni's or Tokico's to the Tein springs, you could tweak the shocks to counter the newfound understeer. A stiffer front sway would probably help, too.

Actually you have it backwards. The stiffer the front is, the quicker the front tires will reach their limits of adhesion, causing understeer. Also since he has wider rear tires, that will make the rear grip even more, which also causes more understeer. What should be done is stiffen the rear up and/or soften the front up to make the car more neutral.

if you're on a budget, go springs(+koni shocks if you want) with a stiffer rear sway bar.

ok, so i would want to make the rear stiffer? i beleive the Tein S-Techs will make the front stiffer than the rear. i will have to check on that again.

this statement is only useful for staggered.

i would go this route.

did you not know you were gonna experience understeer by going staggered?

any spring rating for the 8 is gonna be like that, stiffer in front than rear.

having the opposite would be more of a drift setup.

yes i knew. i just liked how they look. if there's a way to fix it by modding my suspension, then i will. if i ever plan to track my car i would get a new set of wheels anyways.

i put on s-tech last friday, after 3 days, it seems nothing lower, do i have to wait like a couple months for my S -tech?

What I would do would be to get some adjustable sway bars and put the rear to the stiffer settings and front to the softer settings and see where that gets you.

Edit: Its cool G-Rex, it happens to the best of us:wiggle:

S-Tech's suck. Get some Mazdaspeed springs and Koni struts.
