Just got off the phone to someone in marketing at Mazda H/O. First TV advert (not the BP one) to be shown on UK TV is scheduled on Monday 27th at 8:20-8:30 ish. To be aired across all channels at the same time.

I asked if it was like the Japanese advert (boy with car). I was informed no, it is more about the RX8 spinning around...

I've got it in my diary...i'm off to inform my family and friends..

This will probably be the first ad that I will deliberately record :)

Wont be able to watch it live as it clashes with Eastenders lol

I Think I have the Advert here !

I work for an A/V Hire company and we have provided equipment for a recent BP Roadshow. Please note this is not a BP ad but a full Mazda uk Ad. This ad was used as an incentive for a competition.

Enjoy:D

P.S. I hope this link works as this is my first attempt to post a vid.

Thanks PlasmaBoy - Superb! :D

And a clever choice of music for the ad. (why didn't I think of that one!)

You will have to create an account to see the video.

I also had to disable my firewall to download it - was getting error messages at first.

Worth it to have a sneak preview though!

Plasmaboy - that is one cool ad. If this is the uk one then more than a few heads are gonna turn.

Roll on the revolution!

If thats the first ad they are going to run in the UK, then I think they have done an excellent job.

Nice shots of the car, and the music is not tacky either. Even the zoom-zoom bit at the end is not too bad. Wonder about the accent of the commentator at the end though.

Good job Mazda!

Yeah, noticed that.. he pronounces Mazda "Mah-stah"
German perhaps?

Sounded a bit like Arnie to me :D

Excellent advert. Far, FAR better then I expected. The narrator is Austrian but given the 'Arnie-chic' associated with that accent then I hope that they keep it. Re-run the ad in your mind with virtually ANY English accent and you'll see why. I also HATE the Zoom-Zoom bollocks but in this case it is so understated that I'll let them get away with it. It's a funny colour though...(sorry Oilman) ;)

PS: I grabbed a copy of the mpg file by right clicking on the download button and saving the link target. It claims to be 'view.html' but it's actually 'view.mpg' so just rename it.

Great advert, and did all you tit owners notice it was a RED 8. The whole of the UK is gonna be envious of us lucky 8 owners. Seeing this add has put me in a far better mood, no more complaining about delivery etc..... Just cant wait to get the dam thing now!!!!

Ha Ha... Good question!

Seriously though we are expecting them to arrive anyday now. Some have been given an end of October / early November date by their dealers but there is still some confusion over whether the dates given on the dealers system by Mazda is delivery to the dealer or arriving in the UK. As with the states it seems that the date at which you ordered does not necessarily relate to the order you will receive it.

I'm expecting mine at the end of November.

It's close enough now though that I can smell the leather!:D

Just watched the ad, and the most significant thing about it is that the hanbrake on the car is definately on the left hand side of the gearlever.

Its a good job I can pause it with sky+, otherwise its almost too quick to see.

I wonder if it has been moved on UK production cars, or if this is a clever bit of editing? Im sure we'll find out in the next few days....

Well the file of the ad posted on this forum shows a left hand drive car so maybe for the real thing they've reversed the image. Very likely I suspect: we won't get that lucky. Aslo: if the file we had last week wasn't the finished ad then you don't think that they leaked it to us to gauge our opinion prior to transmission do you? No, that's be too clever wouldn't it.

remember a lot of the original mazda pictures used a 'mirror' image to get the steering wheel onto the right hand side, I've not seen the ad, but could that be what you saw?

I've just seen the ad on Channel 4 at about 9.15 this evening (well we didn't really expect the advert to arrive when Mazda said it would, did we ;) ?)

I didn't notice any Austrian accent, but then it was all over pretty quickly and i didn't record it, so i may have missed it.

It could possibly be a mirror I guess, the ad has a RHD car and it is similar, but different to the ad posted on here. I will try to see if there is any way I can tell.

A few shots look different, the music is different, and no Arnie :)

And I just saw it again too on Channel4.

Oh great!
It's the same ad says everyone, except for the music (which I really liked) and the Austrian bloke (which I thought worked well). Goddamned Mazda... ;)

Channel 3, Sunday evening during Frost as well, and I obviously don't remember much of the clip on the origonal thread as I thought the add was completely different tonight.

Ho! Hum! That's a bit like Zoom Zoom but for the mentally retarded, like me.

Sorry Lens - only just realised there was no arnie - the music seemed similar to the one we heard, just mixed differently... or am I imagining it (I have only seen it about 8 times lol)

Just watched it during a break in A Touch of Frost.

Not quite as masculine as the European advert.
Different voice and slightly softer but still upbeat music.

I agree with Lensman though, I prefer the one we downloaded.

give me arnie anytime.

Wife almost wet her pants when she heard it on the web.

Thought the uk version was a bit ponsy in comparison.

it was on the sci-fi channel of all things. In the last ad-break for John Doe, around 9.45pm. (Crap series by the way but I'm sticking with it on the off-chance that it actually improves)

Caught it last night - it's very red (not just the car but all the text etc.) I've already had a few comments in work , one guys saying it had him drooling over the car, another asking me if mine had 'those horrible red seats' ! :p

OK, I've been trying to avoid dissing Mazda UK recently because in many ways they've done well these last few weeks but I have to speak out about this wretched advertisement:

I saw it tonight for the first time and I can't believe they've made such a mess of it. The ad we downloaded (perhaps an agency test) was cool, looked good, had evocative music and a suitable voice over. The ad on TV has appalling music as it's another variation on the now despised Zoom-Zoom theme (why don't they LEARN with this: the Zoom-Zoom campaign is EMBARRASSING Mazda!) and a wimpy voice over. It's a typical limp Euro ad designed to satisfy no one. For God's sake Mazda: GROW SOME BALLS!

Consider this: Mazda has attempted to raise the RX-8 profile by:

1. X-Men 2 - OK, good move.
2. Formula Woman - Bad move.
3. Britney Spears - Bad move.
4. A lousy advert - Bad move.
What next? ITV 'Celebrity' endorsements perhaps?!

Mazda, you are selling an image when you sell a car. Be VERY careful what image of the car you project. Not all publicity is good publicity.

The real advert is when people start seeing our first cars on the road. The TV ad is only to associate the shape with the company.

That said, the advert could be a lot stronger, but atleast as not as cringeworthily embarrashing as the ones for some other makes.

Cheers
---Dave
