View Full Version : Mazda Rx-8 Rim Problems
babyboychase 10-10-2007, 09:40 AM Ok i have a total problem... The rims I like wont fit on my 2008 rx-8 because of my caliper is oversized..... i dont want to put bigger rims on it because i have brand spanking new tires on my 16" rims that just came off the car dealership........ Would putting a wheelspacer help me in my case to have a better selection of rims without spending a fortune? And I wanna stick with the 16......

architect 10-10-2007, 11:04 AM Wheel spacers would only push the wheel away from the hub... it wouldn't increase clearance around the caliper. Take this time to upgrade your wheels. 16" rims on the RX8 look straight dinky.
nycgps 10-10-2007, 11:36 AM like architect saids.
it depends on what kind of size is the 16" wheels. our car has the 16" wheels option, so it fits with 16" wheels BUT your wheel might be too small.
so in the other words, forget about your set of 16" rims.
CTrx8 10-10-2007, 11:53 AM didn't you already have this exact question moved to the wheel forum?
Socr8tes 10-10-2007, 11:56 AM 16s?! If you can't afford decent rims, you probably shouldn't be buying rims at all.
Silver_Surfer 10-10-2007, 12:41 PM Huh? Where did you get the 16"s from? Not your 8? "Came off the car at the dealership"? Need more info.....
Revvittupp 10-10-2007, 01:33 PM Base AT?
BlueRenesis82 10-10-2007, 02:26 PM Can you even get 16"s anymore? I thought that ended after the 04's models.
TopGear8 10-10-2007, 03:01 PM well, i have 18's. so my problem might be different than yours. but when i put my new brake pads in, with my aftermarket wheels already on, the caliper stuck out further, and the way my aftermarket wheels are designed, the inside of each spoke would grind on the outside of the caliper when it went around. so i got wheel spacers and it works fine now.
Revvittupp 10-10-2007, 05:40 PM MazdaUsa.com is your friend... 16's still the base wheel in '08...
swoope 10-11-2007, 03:12 AM MazdaUsa.com is your friend... 16's still the base wheel in '08...

Z1k RX8 10-11-2007, 04:15 AM I bought a brand new 2007 RX8 base model AT and it came with 16's on it.Right now I'm looking into getting some 19's.
machfive 10-11-2007, 06:40 AM Those 16's should be sent the way of the dodo.
Rotor Kreuzer 10-11-2007, 07:01 AM 16s??! On an 8?!! Can you post a pic so we can at least see what they look like?
Revvittupp 10-11-2007, 01:01 PM Those 16's should be sent the way of the dodo.
So should the slushbox they come with. At least they got a 6 speed and higher output recently, btu the early auto's should not be called rx8's. I have never in my life seen such a performance and driver enjoyment difference between manual and auto as in this car. I use to routinely steer peopel from the AT RX8 towards a 6. If yoiu can't row your own gears, this is not the car for you....
Silver_Surfer 10-11-2007, 09:59 PM So if you got "The Big Brakes" with 18" wheels, whats the smallest wheel can you go? 17"?
BlueRenesis82 10-11-2007, 10:01 PM ^ yep.
DOMINION 10-12-2007, 09:25 AM Just get some 17" Enkei's. Super light and cheep and they make off sets for that size now.
