they're all just a pipe. so get whatever you can get a good deal on.

Don't do it in Mass or CT. The cops are really enforcing the any non stock exhaust is illegal in some areas. You get caught with out a cat by the wrong guy and the car leaves on a car carrier. You might get away with just punching out the insides and leaving it on the car.

If you get a 3" midpipe, like the TurboXS, it won't mate with the stock muffler system. You will need a catback that is 3" also.
A plain midpipe is too loud for most people. If you get one, I would suggest that you get one that has a resonator on it.

catless midpipe with the stock exhaust is fine... but if you have aftermarket exhaust and catless, it is usually too loud (depends largely on the combo you pick)

a shop usually will not do it since it is illegal.

Not unless you know the shop and pay in cash. (wink)

I had my Mustang 5.0 fitted with 3" catless pipes back to 2 triflow Flowmasters and long chrome tips. Damn that shit was loud.

But alas times have changed.

true . I had an insert made up to go in the tips which makes it acceptable for me .

i have the Agency Power header back on my AT. that thing is loud. it sounds good at idle, but when i get on the gas its raspy and annoying. i'm thinking putting another resonator on it might make it better. any advice?

ive got a straight pipe...had it custom made at the shop that does all my work...they specialize is custom exhausts etc...
they charge me about the same as any of the others already made minus the install price..

as far as the sound goes, im also running with a borla and its not that bad at all.
a friend has the same exact set up but with the AEM CAI and its much louder than mine...there is a big difference just with the AEM..

ive got a K&N typhoon attached to my blower...even with that, ive got minimal engine bay sounds...

i say "go for it"

more whp too!!

here you go .
These tip inserts dramatically reduced drone in the cabin and also cut down the noise outside . Best part they are easy to remove if you want to take it to the track or scare old ladies :) They don't reduce performance at all either (tested with scanalyser)

I am currently cat-less and it was the best move I ever made. I was in So Cal and found an ex-felon who spoke little English (Amigo) who simply cut from the down pipe back. I lost a lot of weight with that shit. I then had NO mufflers or cat. Took it home and was nearly friggin' deaf. Drove back the next morning and begged him to put on the least restrictive mufflers he had. Found two new magnaflow universal mufflers that "fell off the back of a truck." He did the whole job for only $310. Also, this guy was like an artist. He just eyed up underneath the car and mandrel bent the 2.5" tubing all the way back. SOUNDS HOT!!! I recommend it. Sure, it's illegal, but most fun things are. The only problem is the loss of torque. There's not much to lose. But I'm gonna' dyno it this weekend and see what all the HP gains are.
