DSC Dyanamic Stability Control - complex system that monitors the drivers input and the yaw rate, etc of the vehicle and attempts to overcome driver mistakes.

TSC Traction Control System = less complex system that keeps up with drive wheel slip.

They're closely related. As I understand it:

TCS = Traction Control System. It prevents wheelspin or "laying rubber" when you accelerate by reducing power to the drive wheels when wheelspin is detected.

DSC = "Dynamic Stability Control". It prevents you losing control or spinning out in a turn by reducing power and applying the brakes to specific wheels.

It may be that these are actually the same thing in the RX-8. It's all software anyway.

there is a steep incline street by my house I when I drive 80 over it I can get little air and the TCS will flash once when I do this

is that normal?

If I remeber correctly when the light flashes then goes off, it's letting you know that the system is working an making adjustments. If it stays on then there's a problem. Your fine mikeb.

Great concept. But not for me. I like to feel the edge of control.

Me too...

... until I have to drive in some sh***y weather - then I hope it'll look after me!
