View Full Version : RX-8 Welcome screen
my10ae 10-15-2003, 09:13 PM Hi all:
Just wondering if anyone out there has found a hack to modify the RX-8 welcome window that appears when you start the car? It would be cool if we could put in our name/plate name along with "Mazda RX-8". Anyone find this hack yet?
mikeb 10-15-2003, 09:24 PM no

this nav is harder to hack than I thought it would be It sounds like you're talking about a different message. I believe the original discussion was regarding the "mazda RX-8" that appears on the central red audio display when the car is started.
Personally, the only thing that annoys me about it is that Mazda is not capitalized.
mikeb 10-17-2003, 03:35 AM your right
I was way off
I didn't even think about that

I agree... mazda should be or at least the "M" should be capitalized. I would be cool if we could change the greeting somehow to state good morning/afternoon, etc :)
mikeb 10-17-2003, 01:04 PM My friends prelude says good moring and goodbye and it got old real quick
JerryR 10-17-2003, 01:12 PM The lowercase 'm' works for me. It matches the capitalization in the logo graphic:

Maybe for you, but some other people might like that feature...
TreknMazda 10-18-2003, 01:09 PM I just want to personalize it. If I name the car Elvira maybe just "Elvira" or "Elvira is Ready" or for the more daring "Mistress is Ready". ;) Could also change it to my personalized plate: TREKN8
mine would say, "Flux Capacitor ... Initiated"

flyboyindy 10-18-2003, 08:55 PM I just have the main folder for all my MP3 discs say what I want the display to say... Right now it just says "Frank's RX-8"... but im sure I will come up with something more creative soon... =)

Now mike, that's the funniest thing you've said in a long time. How about more constructive comments like that instead of just "Me too!"

Smart idea. I only have the one MP3 disc, and it displays "Root" as the folder name... do you just rename the disc, or put all the MP3s in a folder off the root, or what?
Speaking of the MP3 player, I wish there were a way to make it automatically cycle through the ID3 tags, rather than needing to press DISP over and over again. Be nice if it scrolled the title, artist, and disc name lazily across the display while it was playing.
flyboyindy 10-28-2003, 07:56 AM You will have to re-burn the disc and change the name of the very first folder (root). Good Luck
Mazda man 11-03-2003, 12:00 PM re-burn
Do you mean make a new copy or re-write the original?
brothervoodoo 11-03-2003, 12:03 PM With your next MP3 disc put no songs on the root. Instead create a directory, call it whatever you want, and place all your MP3's in there.
