It's true, on Friday, I proposed to my girlfriend of almost 4 years to marry me. This by far does not mean any loss of leghumping from me when I can. There is still no date for the wedding though. Ok, the juicy details:
I decided I wanted to go the old skool route and ask her parents first. So, I take a half day on Friday and drove to her mom's house. she greeted me at the door with a puzzled look on her face. She invited me in and we sat at the dining room table and I asked her permission to marry her daughter. She immediately said yes. we chatted for about 45 mins about this and that and I left. Next her dad...
Well, her parents are separated and remarried each, and her dad lives over an hour away. She is also staying with her dad for her last semester of school at the University of Delaware. So, I dive up to Newark and arrive at her dad's to find him not even there. April (my now Fiancée) was home however. Her father apparently went south to go hunting and wouldn't be back till late. so, all day I waited until he came home at 10:00. I finally got the chance to ask his permission. He agreed to it and only threatened to break my legs twice. Now, on to the proposal...
I rushed up to her room and asked her if she wanted her surprise now. (See, she has a twin sister who has a big mouth who after I asked a few questions to try and get the right ring decided to run into her room and say "I know a secret and I'm not telling!" Did I mention she's 23? So, I had to play off the secret as simply a "surprise" and more on that in a moment...) She told me she wanted her surprise, so I told her to sit on her bed and close her eyes. She did it and I grabbed my bookbag that contained a Victoria Secret's bag and the ring in its box. I put the ringbox in my pocket and grabbed the VS bag and got on one knee. I told her to open her eyes. I gave her the bag and she placed it next to her as and started pulling the contents out. The contents were 3 pairs of underwear, all white except the third. The third said "Just Married" in baby blue on the butt. when she pulled that one out and turned it around, I had the ring out of my pocket. I asked her to marry me. Without hesitation, She said "yes" and threw her arms around me.
So, I am officially engaged. Thanks for reading.
