Man I ordered tickets to the Celts vs Raps game through our concierge service here at work. Both orders were rejected cuz they were already sold out but their website just didn't update it. !@#$!@ They go on sale to the public on Saturday so that's my last chance if I don't want to pay scalper-priced tickets

I really don't think the Celts are going as far as some people think lol Outside of their big 3, they're seriously understaffed. They'll make the playoffs but they're out bye the semis.

I do like Houston's chances...they made some modest upgrades around McGrady and Yao...plus they'll flourish offensively in Rick Adelman's coaching style.

Also, provided the rest of the roster is healthy, Portland might sneak in as an 8th seed. If anything else, they'll improve on last year's record by 4 or 5 games.

Wasn't Brandon Roy going to be out for a bit too?

Don't forget about Melo and AI...

He's out for the exhibition season as a precaution but will be ready by opening day. I'm interested in seeing how LaMarcus Aldridge does as starting PF.....he reminds me a lot of Rasheed Wallace, only without the whole crybaby part.

I really don't think Denver's going anywhere this season...Portland took away their starting PG and they haven't made any real moves to improve their team. Probably won't make the playoffs.

Raptor2k
10-06-2007, 01:48 PM
There's no way they don't, unless they take a huge hit on injuries. Two of the best players in the game, with good support (JR, Camby, Nene, Kenyon if he can still play).

jisoo26
10-06-2007, 03:19 PM
They need someone to distribute the ball to AI and Melo....AI's a scorer just as much as Melo and won't want to give up that rock so much. That's why Steve Blake did so well in Denver...now that he's in Portland the Nuggets are thin at PG. They have Chucky Atkins but he's already 33 and doesn't push as much as Steve. I think they'll do ok if Camby and Kenyon pick up their seasons.

Raptor2k
10-06-2007, 05:12 PM
If Chucky is their starting PG, then I see why you think they will have trouble. Chucky probably gives up twice his ppg to opponent PGs.

I also see AI distributing more, he already has enough scoring titles and he should be doing whatever it takes to win. Denver will go as far as their coaching can go, they have loads of talent.

thecow135
10-06-2007, 05:17 PM
AI? distribute?

i only wish.

Raptor2k
10-06-2007, 05:43 PM
What did he start doing when he was traded? He wasn't forcing 30 ppg like he was in Philly.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0IqmazJ2Y2I

Plenty of dimes. Though you don't want a pure scorer's abilities to go to waste.

There have been plenty of teams with dual scorers without a fancy PG that have won. Teams don't desperately need a Steve Nash, Jason Kidd or Stockton to win (all of which are ring-less).

Houston Rockets is my team, already with McGrady and Yao, they got back Steve Francis, added one of the best power fowards from Europe in Luis Scola, and Bonzi Wells will actually play under Rick Adelman.

Disappointing though with a 14 point lead with two mins left against the Lakers yesterday, and they barely end up winning by 2 points.

I agree with Doc Rivers, the "big three" were Parish, McHale and Bird and they were not called that until after they won repeatedly. These guys need to win a championship first.

I guess they looked good. On another note: (I haven't watched NBA in a while) Do they call plays anymore?

So I joined/added the Raptors Fan application on facebook. And after reading some of the posts on there as well as poll results, I've come to the conclusion that there are quite a number of delusional/uninformed Raptors fans.

Many predict over 50 wins for the Raps stating how last year they would ahve done it if they didn't have those injuries - cuz you know how the Raps were the only team that had injuries to their players  . Others propose trades where they get a superstar but give back crap in return (maybe if Babcock was the GM of the other team it would happen like the Vince trade) and say it's fair for both teams. Also there are some that predict a Finals appearance.

But I guess there will be fanboys for everything in this world... :lol2:

A post from a delusional Raps fan when i mentioned TJ Ford isn't a top PG in the league and named these guys off the top of my head that is better than Ford...anyone see the many flaws in this?!? hahahha

hey buddy. wat did these guys average when they were about 3rd yr into their career? and did any of them suffer a career ending injury? guess not. and most of these players (kidd, nash, miller, billups, bibby) are all aging and old. i wudn't say TJ is at the same level as them but considering the age factor. i'd say he's pretty much close to there.

lemme break it down for u here
4th yr into their career
TJ Ford- 15.0 pts, 7.8 asts
Jason Kidd- 11.6 pts, 9.0 asts
Steve Nash- 8.6 pts, 4.9 asts
Andre Miller- 13.6 pts, 6.7 asts
Mike Bibby- 13.7 pts, 5.0 asts
Chauncey Billups- 8.6 pts, 3.0 asts
Baron Davis- 17.1 pts, 6.4 asts
Tony Parker- 16.6 pts, 6.1 asts

If you take a look at these stats, i'd say TJ's 4th yr is pretty much up there with these other "top PG's" in the league during their respective 4th year. oh yeah btw. iverson has not become a pass first pg until he got traded to denver. neither is arenas or bibby or billups or parker. oh yeah and tj currently ranks 5th in assists in the NBA rite now? so please. stop hating.

When I mentioned that the season was only a few games old this was his reply

-_- do u really want me to pull out the 3rd yr stats? they're relaitively the same stuff.. stop being so picky.. geez...

i take stats. i know that perfectlly well.. god u ppl are unbelievable.

"WOW!" was all I could say...I hope he hired a tutor to help him with his analysis for those stats courses :lol2:

Answer the question

I'm guessing you're implying they'll end up as a lower seed (5th-8th) since Bynum has another 5 or 6 weeks. That will make things tough, but considering their success against Suns/Spurs and other West teams lately, a team with that much talent has to go far, unless the injury bug hits them again.

Actually, YES...the number of games I have watched DO have a direct effect on my judgement of the team. More games watched = more knowledge of the team = improved judgement over most.

The fact that I have seen almost EVERY Laker game = I am aware of Bynum's improvement.

You logic is flawed my friend. ;)

As for the Playoffs..yeah, they'll make it but they'll never get anywhere near the Finals.
Spurs or Mavericks will make it futher then them. (yes, I'm aware of the Spurs current slump)

rofl unfortunately for the Lakers, I really don't think they'll see another championship this decade. Kobe's shown he can't lead a team to a championship by himself and unless Bynum turns into a young Shaq (he's good but I doubt he'll be *that* good), they'll get to the W. Conference semis, tops. They have to fight through up and coming teams like New Orleans, Utah, Portland, etc. as well as the good ol' standbys of SA, Phoenix and Dallas.

Boston on the other hand has the fortune of being able to slice right though the Leastern Conference.

That Celts game was pretty good. I bet Popovich is just counting the days until Parker comes back.

Miami's going to be interesting to watch over the next year. They'll need an upgrade at PG and a serviceable center that can clog the lane and rebound...if they can get that, then Riley will get his team back on track.

I agree. The last 2 games with Marion have been amazing.. Thing is, we can't close the victory. We have too many young players and not very smart veterans in this team right now. J-Will & Mark Blount need to go. And Wade needs to stop trying to show off.. He has Marion now, take advantage of him. I'll tell you this, I can't wait for next season. :)

To be honest I don't see them getting past a healthy Spurs, if Kobe is out they might just squeak past the lakers.

This gave the Mavs a perimeter man, something they already had in the 12 year younger point guard they just traded. They are now going to get pushed around like shopping carts in the paint.

Quite a game tonight, Lakes showed they can now run and gun with the best. I think they will still lose to the Suns if they meet in the playoffs. Lakers had to play a perfect game and eat a ton of fouls to beat the Suns tonight. There is no way they could keep that up for a best of 7.

The Suns clearly had issues in the first half still managed to tie it up twords the end and was still relaxed.

I though Shaq was an awful pick up at first, now I'm going to say it was a touch of genius. It is clear it was never about getting a high caliber player it was more about freeing up Stoudimire.

:yesnod:

How can a team that only lost 16 games "suck on the road"??

The big question is - did the C's just take the Hawks too lightly? And maybe play with a dash of nerves from 3 superstars who know they finally have a chance? There were stretches of total suck from them which won't help against better teams, but if they play a solid game (like game 7) each time they will be nearly impossible to beat.

Personally, I think Garnett was doing a very poor job of maintaining his usual psychotic intensity. Way up and way down, vs. a well sustained high-but-not-beating-Powe-through-the-parkay type of intensity.

well everyone says that the calls even out during the course of the game...just the play before that, it showed Fisher's shot hitting the rim. http://i32.tinypic.com/8vvq4m.jpg <--travel. Why wasn't it called? If you didn't notice, not everything is called. Travels...hardly ever. See: LeBron, Wade, Duncan.

But say the travel never happened, it would of been a two-shot foul since it was a bump before the shot (even though the extra step is what made the bump happen).

And as expected, everyones going to make a deal about a scrub and his last second shot attempt. But what about the goaltend by Lamar in the closing seconds, which was a clean block? Or Fisher's shot, which grazed the rim and they didn't get a new shot clock? There was Duncan's dunk, which was the most obvious travel I've ever seen. It was a clean block, he touched it before it hit the backboard, but alas, it was probably too close for the refs to call. Replay would of been good in that case, since it was a crucial moment in the game and everything had just 'stopped' for some reason.

It was a clean block, he touched it before it hit the backboard, but alas, it was probably too close for the refs to call. Replay would of been good in that case, since it was a crucial moment in the game and everything had just 'stopped' for some reason.

So....Lakers got past the West. Where is Digital Damage?

ah my bad...watched it again in superslowmo...

Lakers are gonna win it in 6. Kobe, Phil, Pau, Lamar > KG, Ray, Pierce, Doc. Ray seems to have found his shot which will make the series very interesting.

Would be very fitting for Phil to win #10 in Boston...(surpassing Red)

How about an Ainge/Kupchak split-screen commercial? :D

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP)—Flip Saunders was fired as Detroit Pistons coach Tuesday, four days after his team was eliminated by the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference finals.

President of basketball operations Joe Dumars said it’s “time for a new voice to lead our team.” Saunders had a year left on a four-year deal he signed in 2005. The decision comes three years after Saunders took over for Larry Brown, who led the Pistons to two straight NBA finals.

“Decisions like this are difficult to make, especially with the success we have had throughout the last three regular seasons,” Dumars said in a statement. “However, at this time, I feel it is necessary to make a change.”

A message left for Saunders on Tuesday was not immediately returned.

Saunders could be replaced by assistants Michael Curry or Terry Porter or perhaps former Dallas Mavericks coach Avery Johnson.

In Saunders’ three seasons, the Pistons were 176-70 in the regular season and 30-21 in the postseason, but they lost in the Eastern Conference finals each year.

The Pistons have appeared in six straight conference finals, the first franchise to do so since the Los Angeles Lakers in the 1980s. But they also are the second team in league history to lose in the round before the NBA finals three years in a row, joining the Celtics from 1953-55.

Dumars decided a year ago to bring back key players who have been together since the 2004 championship season, as well as Saunders, while infusing energy with rookies and young reserves. But after the loss in Game 6 of the East finals to Boston on Friday, the likelihood of change grew.

Before coming to Detroit, Saunders was 411-326 with the Minnesota Timberwolves from 1995-05. He led them to eight straight postseason appearances — seven first-round exits and an appearance in the 2004 conference finals. After leading Minnesota to a franchise-high 58 wins, he was fired with a 25-26 mark in the 2004-05 season.

How much wronger can you be? It was a foul, but he traveled before the contact anyway, so that makes the foul irrelevent. But what am I talking about...the Spurs are irrelevant. The NBA didn't say anything about Lamar's clean block and Fisher's shot hitting the rim, without a new 24.

And I was here in the beginning of the season, no need for a mod to spread lies.

LOL the travel as you call it wasn't called. why don't we just rewind the tape back to the first play of the game and say if this didn't happen this wouldn't have happened, etc up until the foul on fisher. the only thing the NBA commented on was that it should have been a foul. what's that tell you? i said it was a foul all along. you whined and said it wasn't. i can't help it if you're wrong. when you've watched as much basketball as me maybe you'll understand the rules better. pwned! :rollingla

Wow. That was utterly pathetic =/

Your illogic knows no bounds. The two plays I mentioned were within the last 30 or so seconds of the game. It wasn't called, and there were two critical errors in favor of the Spurs just before the play that is going to haunt you forever.

It very well may go back to LA 1-1, and then back to Boston 2-3, But if it gets that far, LA has no chance in games 6 or 7.

Well earned win by Boston...the entire Laker roster came up out flat except for Fish.

Never seen a team decide to postpone an MRI...Pierce has two days to get one done but would rather not, odd.

Also, still wondering why Phil isn't even giving Ariza a minute. He's just what we need; a cutter, SF defense, turnover provoker. Instead we have Luke (Kwame 2.0).

Dear gawd, please don't tell me you're buying into the "Pierce was faking" nonsense that some idiot talking head in Lakerville decided to put forth. You may be a Lakers fan, but you seem intelligent enough despite that to realize how completely fucking stupid that "story" actually is.

Like any athlete facing the most important games of the season, if he can walk he can play. What does knowing the extent of an injury accomplish?

I'll answer for you: It puts pressure on the ownership & coaching to sit Pierce in order to protect his future career - however short it may be - "protect their investment", as it were. No MRI, no diagnosis - Pierce has no worries about the C's trying to bench him.

If it wasn't for the triangle he'd be a 12th man. He can't post up without losing the ball, getting blocked, and he's too slow to guard ANYTHING.
