I used to have a RP supercat but I sold it right before I got the SC. If I new it was going to make such a difference w/ the SC, I would have kept it. I got rid of it because it wasn't worth only getting 2/3 hp out of it like I was n/a. Right now, i'm running the stock cat w/ Racing Beat exhaust. I'll probably buy another HF Cat after Xmas.

The pull the car has at 45 mph in 5th gear was incredible. The lack of high RPM sound was also a pleasure. I think the fun now is in the lower RPM as apposed to what I'm familiar with... post 6k RPM. That means learning to drive the 8 all over again. After riding with you I got in my car and it just seemed to be sluggish.

There was a 10'er dead in the middle of the highway near my house, couldnt imagine hitting that beast in anything short of a tank, even a major 4wd would have damage of some kind. Id rather hit a big fat dear.

Silver wasnt driving yall--car still has base map and we had 4 people in the car. if he could have been the driver much more would have been noticed! Plus we where on a 35mph road:)

About the cat--if you dont mind doing a little work the stock cat can be modified and basically be a high performance one. You will not lose any weight though.
I wonder what would happen if i put my midpipe on with the base map? Sure is running rich now and getting only about 14-15 mpg on the interstate.
Had to watch my speed ---really easy to go faster than the law allows. 100mph is nothing in this car now.
Intercooler is impressive---just a little warm to the touch after a 100 mile 80mph drive.

I'm really sorry, I seem to be having some problems. I had to use an application for editing I'm not familiar with and probably screwed something up on the original one. I'm used to Final Cut Pro and had to use iMovie on this one. If you are still having problems I'll have to try to figure it out tomorrow.

I think the unit made an impression. One fellow even asked me how much I would charge to do an installation.
I would not mind helping them at all:). It will be much easier the 2nd time.
It seems that several of the people in attendence have been following the thread of my installation and were very impressed with the amount of support I received from the "family". I reminded them, that very thing was one of the reasons I choose Pettit and Mazsport. I do have a feeling that after Christmas more Georgia members will be part of our group. Has anyone else been having an issue with belt slippage above 7lb of boost? I'm thinking we either need a 6/8 rib belt in combo with a belt tensioner. Your thoughts gang??

The rite tension on the blower belt is reached when you can barly twist it 90 degrees. Make sure the 14mm bolt holding the pully is VERY tight and the tensioner is seated correctly. Check all your other belts as well.

You know I have not noticed it. When cam was here he tighend the belt and I thought installed another tensioner. I'm taking a little drive tomorrow and I will see if there is slippage.

Ive run a 4 wide belt in a pinch without it slipping.

What do you mean in pinch?? I'm currently using a 4 wide belt because that is what came with the kit.

I will check the belts and pulley bolt AGAIN in the next few days and see if the slippage is still occuring.

I tried to get some belt slippage this afternoon and was not able too - My damm boost gauge is having fits so I do not know for sure if I was at 7lbs. Every thing else checks out. Ray will be here in ten days and we'll see then.

mine seems to be a little loose--must tighten it up. Course i still have less than 500miles on the unit and too tell the truth i havent pushed the car to any degree of seriousness. I want to get her tuned 1st.
Currently working on a redesign for the oil dipstick. Thinking also of "holing" the upper grill area and the bumper reinforcement with 1"x4 holes. I like the look on other cars I have seen --the s-14 chassis and certain Mustangs and it would help airflow--I think.
Also looking for a grill badge kit so a "PETTIT S/C" badge could be made.
You know, I pittle and think too damn much.:)

Speaking of future model Friday night I met the Sales manager for a Mazda dealer down here. He told me the the rumor is that they are bringing back the RX7 with a 20b with a 20b hybrid option. It is expected to be in the $60,000 range.:icon_no2:

He drove a speed6 with Mazdaspeed6 with upgrades. He was also mentioning how it is the fastest out of the current Mazda line. If anything when more aftermarket support comes out for the Speed3 then it may take the crown.

The straw that broke the camel's back was when he said he liked watching RX8 owners faces after frinedly competion and him walking them. I said that is because you haven't ran into any 8 drivers that can drive.

I went on to mention times referenced by magazines and the different in wieghts. He was chuckeling saying yeah on paper the RX8 is suppossed to be faster.

He mentioned on most ocassions it wasn't fair because his car was modded. In my mind yes he is taking the bait. I said I have a slighty modded 8. He said I know you are not insinuating what I think your insinuating. I said yes I am.

His friend asked him are you going to ask him what mods he has. He said they didn't matter. He had the exhaust,intake,downpipe,FMIC,and CPE ECU.

He asked me if I was till interested. I said yeah. He said he would be nice and would agree to a roll. I said I didn't care that was fine.

40 roll it was all Zoom Zoom Zoom. He was surprised (hahahahaha) we did it again. Same result the 8 not walking him but jogging him.

He was upset and asked for a dig. I said fine he took about a car off the line(they are awd). But the lead was short lived. Tried again I got a much better launch he only got off a car. For maybe 2-3 seconds then he was watching Zoom Zoom Zoom.

Speaking of future model Friday night I met the Sales manager for a Mazda dealer down here. He told me the the rumor is that they are bringing back the RX7 with a 20b with a 20b hybrid option. It is expected to be in the $60,000 range.:icon_no2:

He drove a speed6 with Mazdaspeed6 with upgrades. He was also mentioning how it is the fastest out of the current Mazda line. If anything when more aftermarket support comes out for the Speed3 then it may take the crown.

The straw that broke the camel's back was when he said he liked watching RX8 owners faces after frinedly competion and him walking them. I said that is because you haven't ran into any 8 drivers that can drive.

I went on to mention times referenced by magazines and the different in wieghts. He was chuckeling saying yeah on paper the RX8 is suppossed to be faster.

He mentioned on most ocassions it wasn't fair because his car was modded. In my mind yes he is taking the bait. I said I have a slighty modded 8. He said I know you are not insinuating what I think your insinuating. I said yes I am.

His friend asked him are you going to ask him what mods he has. He said they didn't matter. He had the exhaust,intake,downpipe,FMIC,and CPE ECU.

He asked me if I was till interested. I said yeah. He said he would be nice and would agree to a roll. I said I didn't care that was fine.

40 roll it was all Zoom Zoom Zoom. He was surprised (hahahahaha) we did it again. Same result the 8 not walking him but jogging him.

He was upset and asked for a dig. I said fine he took about a car off the line(they are awd). But the lead was short lived. Tried again I got a much better launch he only got off a car. For maybe 2-3 seconds then he was watching Zoom Zoom Zoom.

guys during the early morning run to work--on an interstate entrance i wound her out in 1st (easy on to full throttle) then easy shifted --clutch fully out---then floored her ----and damnnnnn! The 225/45/18 tires broke loose for a little in 2nd gear. With just the throttle! Anyone else having this problem?:)

not talking about shifting--talking about already shifted clutch out, gas on, then floored it. tires still broke loose. pavement was cold so there may have been a little slickness to it but not much. To be clear--- while in 2nd gear (and going the speed equal to the top speed of 1st gear)---just floored the gas and the tires broke loose a little.
Folks after a LOT of thinking --I am going to keep running the INT X. I have plenty of power, idle is now good, after a tune my gas mileage will be good, and I can have track maps, shift light, valet map and track data collection. Nothing wrong with the flash---just for now the X works really well for me.

Let me tell you about a lillte story while we wait.

Well we all leave the new shop to go to the Dynost the old shop. We start all nice in a single file line. Until we get to the first light Cam made a right to go run an errand. Moon is in the lead now in his Moon Rover (VehiCross). So I decide to pass him. The Speed3 and CX7 have to follow cause they don't know where they are going.lololol

Moon guns it I let him fly by. I was like the cahse will be better. Until we got around traffic and slowed down. By this time there were 3 cars between Moon and us. Slowly they went getting out of our way. Thats when I knew it was safe to have fun again. We were right behind Moon. He knew once we hit the back roads. He would be in trouble.

Have any of you seen the Jeep Commercial where the commentator is speaking and the Jeep just makes a hard turn and disappears off road then poof reappears on road. Well Moon's crazy ass does just that We had to make a left. He floors it straight. Into some backwoods terrain where there is sand and swamp type terrain. He goes off roading there. He has taken me it's fun. Well back on topic. He hits the curb catches some air. Looked awsome. I was like shit we can't follow not even the CX7 it would get stuck back there for sure.

We make the left and get stuck behind a guy on a Scooter of all things doing about 20mph. When we make a right and get rid of him. I floor it when we get close to the corner where I think moon is going to pop out I slow down and look nothing. As soon as I get back on the gas half about half a block away I seen Moon literally pop out of no where. Like a jack in the box. I was like let me cut him off I punch it. As I am getting closer I was like shit. I kow he ain't stopping and he know I know he ain't stopping so I slowed down which was a good thing cause he didn't even blink. Hard right and he is back in the front we where getting close to a main street so that is how we stayed. lololol

I want a rematch. lolololol

Kids don't try this at home.
Moral of this story Moon is nuts and can off road the hell out of that VehiCross.

Best moment of the trip was when the guy leading us from the new shop to the old one in his truck blasts straight through the intersection across to the field at like 40-50 mph! Hits the curb and catches AIR! :D

I think I saw your ECU sunbathing and enjoying the south Florida weather.:wiggle:

You will like the Flash... a lot and better fuel mileage too. I'm not sure what my mpg was with the X but I can tell it is way better now.

For those of you that are math wizard, pop quiz:

Drove 160 miles from home to Pettit at an average speed of 75 mph, mostly hwy, temps 65-75, no A/C and burned 5/8 of a tank.

The answer is +/- ____ mpg. :eyetwitch

You sure about that 5/8ths? Cause it works out to only 16.1mpg if you had a dead full tank at 15.9 gallons.

I belive you are right. Stock RX8 MT calls for 16/23 mpg. Keep in mind that the SC plays a roll in fuel economy and that the 5/8ths tank use is not 100% accurate. However, I burned just about a full tank of gas last month when I went to Pettit to swap X for Flash under the same conditions. :eyetwitch

Ahhhhhh.........I feel a little better now! I figured you weren't completely full to the brim and at 75, it's gonna suffer a little bit too, I would imagine.
