Which means? Got a link to a thread or something? I'm interested... Tis the season...heh olddragger 10-25-2007, 09:03 PM since i am suffering from pyrobovineaphobia--i have to have something to occupy my thoughts. With that in mind i have discovered that the maf wifes that are normally cut for the install do not have to be cut if you use the int x. the int x has a plug in for the i.t sensor that can be attached to the Pettit one in the new uim. The I X defaults to that one. All you need is a regular wire with a jack on it like an earphone wire--then just hook her up! Also it may be advantageous to reroute the firewall heater hose to the front part of the engine. It takes a lot of heat away from the manifold. OD morkusyambo 10-25-2007, 10:28 PM Its been much cooler outside here in Alabama the last week. Everytime I check my manifold after driving it's cool(allmost cold) to the touch. munche187 10-27-2007, 05:23 PM it's my bday today and wha does that mean? "G"..........I did the sways today! Back sway was cake, front took a little longer......as I was by myself and getting the bar out and in by yourself takes a little bit. I didn't want to drop the tray, so I just took my time and went from one side of the car to the other about 30 times! No trouble with the endlinks, didn't even have to use the 5mm hex when taking the old ones off. I did have to use it for a short time when putting the new ones on, but it's all good.......no worries! :ylsuper: Only went for about a ten minutes drive and really couldn't throw it into any corners, but those I did take felt really good and stable! I'll push it harder tomorrow, but I can tell it's got less body roll already. :yesnod: shinka213 10-27-2007, 08:20 PM "G"..........I did the sways today! I think not. I don't have this problem solved. News: Scott from mazsport said me they have a "sensor in stock location". funklove 10-29-2007, 03:52 PM ----- funklove 10-31-2007, 04:40 AM What Scott is saying, I think, is that the Int X uses the factory IAT sensor and the input port we are talking about is intended for an external wideband O2 sensor. IIRC, the input is a 1/8" female "audio" type plug, which is what the Innovate Wideband LC-1 unit, for example, uses for output to EMSs. Thus, a simple mono audio cable with 1/8" male ends will suffice. If I remember, the LC-1 "jack" output has digital interface for laptop. I need IntX compatible IAT for 5/8 npt hole in pettit's intake. __________________________ Another way is to do not use microtech logging options. Zeitronix is the best! :) Phil's 8 10-31-2007, 07:45 AM I have got to see how Vice Grip is going to pull off the map on page one for a Russian owner. I'm happy with this great product and will buy 3-4 kits next year for russian RX-8 owners. morkusyambo 11-01-2007, 10:30 AM Hey Guys and gal. I'm sure Cam mentioned this allready, but check the tension of your belts. I noticed after around 1k with the kit that boost started capping at 6.5 pounds. I tightened the belt and am back to an eight pound baby. For those that are running the Int-X map from Cam; Is the car running smoothly, because the map i'm using(not Cam's) is so rich, I am literally breathing my own gasoline everytime I drive. munche187 11-01-2007, 06:06 PM When I did have the map from Cam it did not run rich. Yes it was running smoothly. Cam has my dongle with those maps.Maybe you can send him your dongle and have my old maps copied over. Moon Assad 11-01-2007, 10:06 PM Cams car is officialy hooked on meth. The A/I kit is installed and runs better then we perdicted. It is fun to take my time with it. Sure have learned alot. The final dyno number 301whp. With the stage II pulley. Awesome marsredr100 11-02-2007, 08:08 PM To all: I got MIL DTC P2119 Throttle actuator control throttle body range/performance problem and the car only revs up to 3k rpms. Any ideas of how to check for this? marsredr100 11-02-2007, 08:56 PM If that doesn't uncover anything, check your ECT sensor and harness. Thanks Charles I'll let you know in about half hour. Also, when I erase the code everything works fine but after acouple of starts, the code returns and back to 3k rpm. Everything else looks fine (start, idle and so on). :banghead: marsredr100 11-02-2007, 09:19 PM That'll happen. It's a continuous monitor that the PCM does, for obvious reasons, and you may just have a problematic connection on either your throttle body or gas pedal connectors. Is there any work you've done near these areas in the past day or so? The deal with checking the ECT is that the PCM puts engine in a high-idle mode and slowly drops the idle speed as the engine warms up. If the PCM doesn't see the engine getting warmer it will disallow the throttle to go beyond a certain point. That could be the issue, too. Is it running rich all of a sudden? Everything checked out OK but same problems. BTW ECT? The only thing I have done recently was a home made ground kit. Basically I installed three ground wires directly to the battery negative post. One to the engine block (below the plugs) same place where the OEM is located. One to the lower intake manifold (same place as the OEM location). And one to one of the strut tower bolts. marsredr100 11-02-2007, 09:36 PM Juan, what you're saying is that you checked out the action of the throttle body butterfly with the intake duct removed and when someone pushes the gas pedal to the floor the butterfly goes wide open? That is in addition to checking the wires/connections on the TB and accelerator pedal plugs? Is it possible that your coolant is low? ECT=Engine Coolant Temperature sensor. Ground points are a big deal on the 8. Maybe remove those three wires from the battery and see if anything changes. The butterfly does not wide opens with the engine off. Only when the engine is running. However, the throttle body goes thru its normal on/off self check. marsredr100 11-02-2007, 09:53 PM [QUOTE=Charles R. Hill;2124276]How do you check the butterfly with the engine running and the intake duct removed? I have a a 13 yo son and I got him to step on the gas while I looked the the butterfly and the car runs even if the MAF and intake piece is of the throttle intake. Still have the same problem and all the extra ground cables are off the car now.:dunno: marsredr100 11-02-2007, 10:12 PM The rest of the diagnosis involves reading sensor data from the MDS system or checking continuity/resistance. Do you have a service manual? I have it on a CD and it is also available online. marsredr100 11-02-2007, 10:16 PM I'll try again tomorrow and also take the car for a drive. It was sitting in the garage for three weeks and maybe needs a little spanking. Moon Assad 11-02-2007, 10:34 PM It sounds like its going into limp mode for some reason. I cleaned the throttle contacts and so far no P2119 trouble code. I'll let it sit overnight and see what happens tomorrow. The problem is that I can't drive the car around because it doesn't have the nose. I purchased a RB Type II nose and after less than a week on the car I had a little encounter with wet grass and a pond. To long of a story to tell but it had to do with semi bald tires, cold tires, traction control off and not getting used to the additional power. Anyways, I got new rubber all the way around and the nose has been sitting at the body shop for over three weeks and waiting for it. The person that painted the nose and currently working on it is JD's Paint and Body shop, he is featured in the Mopar Muscle Magazine and a very nice guy. Hopefuly I'll get the nose next week since I would like to run an AutoX next Saturday in Orlando. marsredr100 11-03-2007, 10:12 PM Your gona get a flash when its ready, send me some cash to get my car fixed and itl happen faster:rolleyes: Moon, let Cam know that as soon as I get my car going (need the nose back from the body shop) I'm going to give him a call to set up a day to take my car down to the shop. What do I do with this hose? -Run it back and up as high as you can get it, then to the T fitting on the oil fill (2- 5/8th and 1- 3/8th if I rember correctly on the hose sizes). Put a T on the 3/8 vent line then run another line as high as you can back to the post maf vent and pre throttlebody, If the hoses are not high enough they will back feed oil into your intake and blower when adding oil to the engine so keep that in mind. Also pulling your dipstick helps oil drain down faster. 2- do I need to attach a vacuum line to the by pass/regular ? -Yes, the easiest way to do that is run a strait vac line to one of the nipples that are plugged on your lower intake. It gets the fastest boost/vac. reading. Run the other nipple to your map nipple on the interceptor, use zip ties to keep hoses from popping off of the lower intake nipples. Everything else should see only vac. so use the check valve and run it from the nipple next to the air temp sensor to your vac tank. 3- the vacuum line (male extension) off the bottom rearmost part of the manifold/cmpressor (cant really tell) it appears that a hose goes from there to the air intake before the TB? Ill get back to you on that, theres 2 different settups for the flash or Interceptor. Other than those few things---its been no problem. I routed the a/w intercooler line (the LONG one to a 90 degree turn coming off the unit and down the side of the engine bay and then through and over the radiator and used another 90 degree fitting to attach to the cooler itself. So that part of the engine bay has been decluttered a little. Hey Will--stud is fine man---matter of fact i broke one off the coil mount!! I wish you could come back down. Looks better in person than pics. That firewall mount is a really good piece of work--and relocating the oil filter makes gauge install a lot easier, not to mention oil changes. Plus you get about 1/2 more oil in her. Notice that the firewall heater hose is missing--that the RB water temp adapter is upside down to mate up with the heater hose reroute. That mod made for a lot of needed room. Notice also the intercooler front hose is at a 90degree bend and now doesnt run to the front and through the front sheet metal hole. That hole is being used for a engine bay cooler hose that will pick up at the grill. It will not hurt that the airfilter is right there either! I have the back of the stock hood elavated slightly to increase low speed engine bay airflow. See that hood mod on the DIY section. I will pic it. Couple more things in mind is a custom made air deflector plate to replace the one immediatly above the intercoolers--that space needs to be sealed imho., and a stronger mount for the intercooler bottle. Yall' like that intake with the maf and a vacuum line behind it? Took me a little while to figue that one out--may go to a smaller filter later. Still havent shown the mod to increase airflow to the pcm box-- it gets so hot in there you cannot touch it. OD olddragger 11-06-2007, 11:34 AM Oh yea Mazdasport---I have been speaking VERY highly of that mount to the local"club guys. I really like that. In the furture I see another tank going on it. OD SilverEIGHT 11-06-2007, 01:05 PM OD, I like the relocation of the washer fluid bottle. The engine bay looks like you've done quite a bit of customizing. I have been chasing gremlins for a while now. leaking throttle body hoses, etc. Well today--it was ready to crank. Double checked the checkoff list etc, I turned her on to check the Int x, went around to the front of the car and "What the hell"---no lights at all showing from the unit---none. Black as night. ???????? So I go to turn her off and every warning light there is on the car was on, airbag, tire pressure, security light flashing, low coolant--you name it--it was on. Also the a/w pump would not run and just for the hell of it I tried the starter---nothing--not even a click. when I tried the starter all lights went off but immediatly returned as soon as I let go of the key. I tried a different key--same thing. WTF!!! I chased that problem for 3 hrs. The battery is good, all grounds on good, all connectors connected. I took the Int x out and just hooked the oem one up just to see---same thing---no different. So the only thing I can think off is that the computer is not getting power. Why--I dont have a clue. I'm screwed. The only thing i can do with the limited equipment on hand is to take it apart again and try to trace this electrical problem. Anyone ever have this happen to them? probably not. Olddragger olddragger 11-08-2007, 11:15 PM oh---the horn works, the lights work, the stereo works, the power windows work, all dash stuff works. OD shinka213 11-08-2007, 11:26 PM do you have power to the starter? olddragger 11-08-2007, 11:30 PM Nope--none at all--all fuses look good also. OD shinka213 11-08-2007, 11:32 PM how about power to the coils and plugs? Brettus 11-08-2007, 11:42 PM new dynos are up http://pettitracing.com/rx8/index.htm wow - would love to see that 300+ dyno on the comparison thread - just taking a few points off it and it looks like it will be right up there with the high end turbos . Mazurfer 11-09-2007, 12:03 AM During the installation process did you ever need to get into the main fuse/relay box under the hood on the driver's side? Also check all the terminals on the battery positive side. One has a 60A(IIRC?) main fuse attached to it. Before the main 120A it goes directly to the starter off the positive side of battery(Maybe through a 60A that Ray mentioned....not sure), and another place it goes is through a 15A to the igntion switch and eventually the starter interlock. But if you have lights, stereo etc, then this 15A should be good. Yet another place is through a 30A to the ignition relay. Could it be this 30A or the starter relay itself? I'm not familiar with this kit and I know that Ray is............but............is there ANY re-wiring at all in the fuse box for this kit Ray or OD? If there is, obviously that's where I would look first. There or you unplugged something during the install and must find it......but I know that you know all that. Phil's 8 11-09-2007, 07:41 AM Hey Phil... if its any consulation...im dying for the flash...but it will cost me approx 2k to ship her down and back...plus parts and labor but its prolly what im gonna have to do.. thats the price i pay for being first kid on the block... but im ok with it... :D: Yea, I'm more than satisfied with the s/c but I must have a sensitive ECU cuz I can have it tuned today and as soon as the sun goes down the tune changes. The next day it's working again. Let the weather change radically and so does the tune. A flash is my saving grace. Right know I have 4 tunes for different weather conditions/times of day on the tuning dongle - daylight cool, daylight hot, evening cool, evening hot and as the weather and time of day changes so do I. I could use about three more tunes but there is no more room in the memory in the dongle. I guess I thought the X was supposed to over ride the ECU but in my case it does not seem to. Oh, I make light of it cuz I knew that being first is always a problem. I also know that if I lived a decent driving distance from Cam, I most likely would already have it. But that does not stop me from feeling sorry for myself:crying: and trying to get a little sympathy:sad: It sounds like "Murphy" moved from my garage to OD's. Sorry to hear you having problems but Ray should be able to help. olddragger 11-09-2007, 08:29 AM after laying awake most of the night, cursing my luck(and Phil I wish you had made Murphy more comfortable), going over and over in my head what this could be and picking my mind for any symptoms, co-relation etc-- I still dont have a cue. battery is fine --that was my 1st thought also and I actually swapped out my battery from another car--no difference. I remember that the 1st time I turned it on I heard what I think to be the a/w cooler pump working for a second then nothing. The fuse to the pump is good. So far: battery is good 60 amp fuse is good room fuse is good connections are good dash functions work (radio, fan, lights, warning lights, fuel gauge, etc) headlights, turn signals, horn, the remote, interior lights all work now-- no power to the int x(no lights at all--none) took the int x out and used just the oem one and no difference Alert--Alert--- Juan just called and said the same thing happened to him! Seems i have to trace all the little fuses in the main fuse box down . He had one go bad (couldnt remember which one) and that was his problem. I will remember him at Christmas! So after work--guess were I will be. Become one with the circuit tester. One think is for damn sure--I am getting to know my way around the engine bay. Hope my teenagers are not hearing the words being mumbled. Just to be clear here--this is NOT a problem with the kit, NOR the Int X, it is just a gremblin and we all have those from time to time. oldcurseddragger munche187 11-09-2007, 09:04 AM Good luck OD cybershark01 11-09-2007, 09:42 AM man Roland ur car look hot if everything is ready on my car next friday we can go to the track MazsportScott 11-09-2007, 09:45 AM OD give me a call I helped Juan over the phone and can probably lend a hand to you as well. You should not have to change the mapping like you are doing. Let me talk to MM first. He and Cam are the only people that have touched my tunes since the s/c install. While they are present it runs good and will repeat but not if a different time of day/night. I want to make sure I will use the correct terms that you will understand. I tried to do it my self one time and I obviously do not have the confidence to try again ( I went too lean and panicked). olddragger 11-09-2007, 11:49 AM Ok Scott will do. If I remember right, you said you heard the air pump start at first and then it quit after about a second? That sure sounds like a fuse, and we know you checked that 60A, so that ain't it. I started looking at the schematics last night when you first posted about this. I still contend you better go back and look at how/where you plugged that a/w intercooler pump in as you've stated. You might want to not only take out the Int-X but the intercooler pump wiring until you get it back firing up and then proceed from there again. Just my two cents and I'm sure you've thought about it all. Good Luck! olddragger 11-09-2007, 09:32 PM SHE LIVES!!!!!!! Help from a great bunch of folks---really. If I am running the int x I wonder why I need the maf? Intake temps are direct to the int x also NOT the maf. Hope to fix the belt clatter today--anyone else ever had that? You know -its sounds like bad bearings knocking in the compressor. It is usually a rough idle associated noise that clears right up when you give it some gas. oscd SilverEIGHT 11-11-2007, 09:09 AM How many miles do some of you guys have on your car now after the Petit SC install? Are you an aggressive daily driver and did you change your driving habbits any after the install? By change, I mean things like shifting gears at different RPM than before, rev matching to shift down etc. Just wondering what effect the SC has on the daily drive. morkusyambo 11-11-2007, 09:13 AM You don't need the MAF w/ the interceptor. But i've been told if you hook it up your traction control will work again. If you're referring to the knocking noise when you first crank the car that is normal. Cam told me to switch the ignition to the on position without cranking, then pump the brake pedal 15-20 times. Switch ignition of, then crank. Not only does this calm the idle down(Also works when sitting at stop sign/light), but is seems to make the knock go away on a cold startup. shinka213 11-11-2007, 09:19 AM I put my MAF in because i prefer to have the traction control if i need it... traction control will not work without installing the MAF.... and thats one more light i dont have to look at on the dash.. i dont think its a situation of "you dont need the MAF if you have the x" but i might be wrong.. :D: munche187 11-11-2007, 09:20 AM You don't need the MAF w/ the interceptor. It had 13miles when I drove up the lot. It had 599 miles when I dropped it off at the Pettit Shop. As you can tell it's my daily driver. Driving habits after the install: I wanted to drive every where.lolol Still do I have to force my self to let it rest and use the wife's car. If the car is not at the normal operating temp. I shift at 3k. If the car is at normal operating temp 5k. When ever I get the chance to step on it I do. Usually at night on the highway or rural highway no one around. Lets just say that I know what the top speed is. Rev matching, heel and toe I try my best. I would consider my self and aggressive daily driver. You can ask Moon or Cam.lolol The result of the S/C on the daily drive it makes it fun. I have the power I need on tap to move out of the way of some of these crazy drivers. Before the S/C I was having to give more gas to attain the power I needed. I would have to start giving gas way before any lane change, having always to time maneuvers. With the S/C none of that peace of mind knowing I had what I needed when I needed it. It has given me more time to be on the cell phone and drinking my Beer. LMFAO!!!!! I was j/k. Bottom line it has made the daily drive 10x more enjoyable over stock. munche187 11-11-2007, 09:54 AM Rub it in why don't ya? Good start, running well with slightly fast warm up idle. No sc belt clatter heard. so I filed a flight plan with the family, made sure the cell phone was charged, gave them my eta back and took off:) Warmed her up good, stopped and bought fresh gas, old cold pepsi, and headed to the car wash. Washed her good, started her back up and all is good. I just didnt want the extra expense of shipping my car and now that I will be moving to Alabama I will be much closer to drive down. What are the benifits on keeping it What are the benifits of just getting the flash If you don't track it then don't get it. No need for it with a flash. If the flash is as advertised, you will not know that your ecu is not stock. You have a little wait for an AT flash, it's close but not yet ready. marsredr100 11-12-2007, 10:02 PM Go to the site tail of the dragon and you can see all kings of stuff. 1st time on the interstate today and ---jesus--this car is MUCH faster. MUCH! Gotta go --40 teenagers coming over! olddragger OD After all the wait time :squint: , SC install  , electrical headaches :banghead: , squirrel chasing :uzi: and wood chomping :Kill2: it is finally paying off :Peace: . The beauty of it all is that every other VTEC belly button* driver looks at your RX8 and thinks, there goes another old man** driving an under power RX8. Ha! :evil_laug Only if they know what’s sitting quietly under the hood…Rotary Power :eyetwitch * everybody has one ** anyone over the age of 35 olddragger 11-12-2007, 10:05 PM what I understand also is that if you ever have plans to go over approx 300hp then the injectors will have to be changed. if you change injectors then the oem pcm cannot compensate. So a stand a lone will be required. The flash is great--really great thing to have--but if you already have the int x and your car is running ok--then dont rush? the int x has features that are also good to have.. password protection, valet map capacity, monitoring and data logging capacity. plus if you do more mods then you can always tune further--cant with a flash. Each has its advantages--the flash really simpifys things and its smooth, self diagnosis, self adjusting and allows full obd 2 access and management. the int x is a stand a lone system that has more flexability, more up front data logging capacity and can grow with the car. But, much over the 300hp with this system is pushing it. Blower capacity limitations start being a issue. So it depends on what you want. It is great to have options like this! Before you decide --drive this car with a system installed that has ---say 275 at the wheels and 185 of torque. You may not want anymore than that:), I have just installed , have the int x and the base map(no tuning yet) and believe me--it is a totally differant car. The trips i now take are too short! Aamzing transformation. olddragger olddragger 11-12-2007, 10:17 PM hey my life saver, vacuum line expert, experienced electrical globlin killer and pettit sc vet. they can tell I have something by this big ole grin on my face! and that little bit of popping coming from under hood. Still working on the idle thing--hasnt gotten under 1 K yet---soon as I have time I will be checking the throttle position sensor to make sure she is correct. Car is rich--but smooth at all speeds, no hesitations, no power drops, no hiccups(except a little boost pop sometimes) but I still have belt chatter after it warms up. It goes away at about 2.5 K. i will probably drive down to mazsport sometime in the near future for tuning.--or flash her---I havent decided yet. olddragger Phil's 8 11-12-2007, 11:02 PM I'm with you OD, I'll be keeping mine (after I get the flash) at least for the foreseeable future. I was just trying to tell him that it will not be needed for most ATs unless they are going to track their cars. qtwre 11-12-2007, 11:22 PM Why does tracking your car make the flash unsuitable? munche187 11-13-2007, 01:04 AM I put my Racing Beat Race Pipe back on 143miles since I added it back on. My low end is better and no CEL. No flames on decel. Idle is steady at 1100rpm with the a/c on. Phil's 8 11-13-2007, 07:22 AM Why does tracking your car make the flash unsuitable? It does not make it unsuitable. The X will give you some options that you may wish to pursue if racing. olddragger 11-13-2007, 11:31 AM exactly Phil. Thanks. Spoke with Cam this a.m. My idle issue can be fixed with a restrictor in the blower idle/intake hose(one going to the maf/air filter airway thing) and the little chatter i have been hearing is probably the unit rubbing up agaisnt a clutch bracket. Every car is different in that regard--it depends on how the PPF etc is all set up and rests. Good news---easy fix's. One question--I know Pettit is working on a airway/maf tube to work with the flash, but what has people been using during the beta testing? How did yall mount yall's maf? Sorry to keep mentioning this but Damn this is like the car I have always wanted. On the interstate this am--i was at 65mph in 6th gear and i gave it approx 1/2 throttle(still in 6th!). I was at 80mph in about 2 seconds! I wanted to just keep driving and NOT go to work. But my wife's hand came out of my head and thumped me on the nose and told me to get my butt to the hospital. The only think i regret is the amount of gas I am using:) Driving this car is FUN---FUN. get this-- I actually pulled my friends Lotus yesterday---and I still need a tune! Badly. I have some exhaust pop and a rattle sound in the supercharger at idle. All of that indicates NEEDS TUNING. So to flash or to tune---damn decisions. It will be hard to give up the INT X and its flexability. Did I say this car is FUN to drive? The idle/vacuum hose re stricter thingy worked--now car is searching. The a/w cooler works---lay your hand on top after driving and it is just barely warm. Really fun to drive or did I already say that? In a short while I do believe we are going to see some more members in Ga. By the way --how much difference does a person notice in performance after a good tune over the base map? Nice job Shinka--that looks smooth. Much better than this aftermarket thing i have. i understand cutting the space for the maf--how did you tap for the screws? olddragger munche187 11-14-2007, 03:28 PM The MPG got better with the meth kit I get and additional 40miles per tank on average. If I baby it I can get way more. Normal driving which for me means quick sprints when possible I got the average of 40 miles per tank more. If I drive hard all the time I use the same amount of gas maybe a little less than before. I went from 150 per tank to 190 per tank. In regards to the tuning you will see a big difference when you tune from the base map. I went through 3 different maps while on the short time I was using the Int-X. The first tune you feel significant difference. On the other two I felt a difference but not as large. When I went from the Int-X to the Flash it was a significant change again. I still have my Int-x but it is just there as a backup. morkusyambo 11-14-2007, 05:37 PM I'm using the MAP Scott @Mazsport sent me. It's tuned slightly rich and I still get 200miles a tank. If the meth helps that much, then I should see 240 a tank with it. olddragger 11-14-2007, 06:16 PM I dont know if i can take much more. So the flash actually makes the car stronger than a good tune? Did you use the stock maf and maf airpipe? OD eviltwinkie 11-14-2007, 09:43 PM I dont know if i can take much more. So the flash actually makes the car stronger than a good tune? Did you use the stock maf and maf airpipe? OD I dont think that the flash is superior to a good tune...a tune job is always best at extracting the most that your specific setup and car can offer... It's just easy and 90% as close to a good tune...from what I gather based on all the reviews... morkusyambo 11-14-2007, 11:51 PM What if I want to keep the interceptor, but use the A/I?? For those that know, is this feasable?? morkusyambo 11-14-2007, 11:57 PM Sounds good. If using the interceptor would you want to use a MAP, or MAF based injection system? Some companies recommend using MAF based for positive displacement. morkusyambo 11-15-2007, 12:12 AM Which one would be easiest to install/upkeep/tune, and best for reliability/temperature/power???? morkusyambo 11-15-2007, 12:32 AM Ray, unless you posted over there in the last few minutes, I haven't read anything yet about progressive rate and fixed volume on this forum....But i'm heading to your "alky" thread right meow. olddragger 11-16-2007, 11:19 AM after only approx 150 miles of driving with this system installed--i have lost 5 years of old age(im younger), my hair is less gray, i am teenager cool, hot chicks look at me, no longer need those teeth whiter strips, i get out of bed earier without as much effort, my wife won a trip to Hawaii, my daughter had a colledge soccer scholorship offer possibility, Ga bet Fla in football, Ga beat Auburn in football, I got a raise at work, Opra has come to town(really --who cares?) and I have already used $50 worth of gas. Life is good.. Tomorrow I am to meet a few Ga club members for karting at Andretitis(sic) and they want to see the car. Now to just get a tune. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh:0 olddragger Phil's 8 11-16-2007, 11:27 AM after only approx 150 miles of driving with this system installed--i have lost 5 years of old age(im younger), my hair is less gray, i am teenager cool, hot chicks look at me, no longer need those teeth whiter strips, i get out of bed earier without as much effort, my wife won a trip to Hawaii, my daughter had a colledge soccer scholorship offer possibility, Ga bet Fla in football, Ga beat Auburn in football, I got a raise at work, Opra has come to town(really --who cares?) and I have already used $50 worth of gas. Well I'm older and had more to loose in guess. Hot chicks never look at me just the car. Only $50.00 worth of gas, you must have cheep gas in GA.:) Wait until you get the tune:Eyecrazy: olddragger 11-16-2007, 11:57 AM the anti aging is a continuing process that will accelerate after the tune(pun intended). One thing i have already figued out. I need bigger track tires.:) The car will be a totally differnt animal on the track. Enough grunt and scoot in her now that suspension changes will be needed and i am beginning to wonder about the oem motor mounts. Wish there were some poly's out there. i dont want the solids. I may need a torque arm to the engine. if yall watch track vids you can see a good bit of gearshift movement when full throttle is applied in the middle of a turn. With the power increase I am sure that the drivetrain movement will be affected. That will be under evaluation before next season. i can already tell running temps are going to be higher. Have to wait till summer to really tell what I have. What do yall do about freeze protection for the a/w bottle? Do you add a little antifreeze in the winter? Then drain it in the summer? OD morkusyambo 11-16-2007, 01:12 PM i've been running regular 50/50 coolant for 2kmiles, no problems. Phil's 8 11-16-2007, 01:29 PM Overheating is a big problem in the desert and may show up under track conditions. I'm testing CRHs radiator that should take care of that. 50/50 did not work too well for me but you guys live in a different climate. Suspension changes are a must even if you do not track it, just playing is a little too much for stock. I went the RB way. Be sure and get a brace/bracket for the booster - did mine with the MS strut tower brace with the booster bracket. I've been advised to seek a torque arm for mine but then I do not track it. So far (cross my fingers) the new motor mounts from Mazda seem to be holding up. It never stops!!!:) olddragger 11-16-2007, 06:52 PM oh i already have a good bit of track goodies 1- koni;s with tein H springs 2- rb bars with endlinks 3- mazdaspeed front strut with master cylinder brace 4- light flywheel 5- af shortshifter 6- dedicated track wheels and tires 7- carbo tech xp 8's for the track only etc etc, but with this much power increase, the suspension tweaks will have to be started. close eye on motor mounts. I will be glad when i get it tuned--the high idle is aggravating and if i put a smaller vacuum fitting in the idle hose thing --the car search's a lot. I still have that little sc rattle---all should be fixed with a good tune. I really cant make my mind up about a flash or the tune. OD Phil's 8 11-16-2007, 07:03 PM I think if I were you I'd look into the flash as a daily driver tune. If it operates as Munchie has said it would give you a smooth stock type drive. You already have the X and could do what every adjustment you might need for the track. Sure does not take long to transfer from one to the other. marsredr100 11-16-2007, 07:49 PM You guys are killing me with all the rambling about driving your SCs and loosing age by the day. All I have been able to do since my little encounter with a couple of Florida gators by the pond (five weeks ago) :squint: is to drive my RX8 from the driveway to inside the garage and back out again. :tear: I read your daily forum entries and wonder WTF?, why do I feel getting older by the day, why in the hell I won a one-way trip vacation to Iraq, why did my daughter’s hamster bit my finger, why I can’t read what its written on Phil’s avatar girl shirt. The weather in Central Florida turned picture perfect since my mishap. The temperatures have drop below 80, humidity is low and nothing but blue skies. Now, I’m able to ride my Hayabusa to work without worrying about getting wet but I have noticed that the Harley dudes are now waving back at me and not giving me the F/U look. Now that’s weird. :scratchhe All I can do now is reminisce about driving my 8 and wondering how much longer do I have to wait until I get to break down my new set of tires. The sound of the SC spooling, the boost gauge blinking 5, 6, 7, 8 PSI, the smell and sound of no catalytic converter. :eyetwitch When will it end? :banghead: Phil's 8 11-16-2007, 08:03 PM marsredr100 (http://www.rx8club.com/member.php?u=36311); :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying: Bastage 11-16-2007, 08:58 PM I think I can relate....
