rims or an intake?
rims or an intake?
so my next mod is prolly going to be either intake or rims. im thinking 18" gunmetal axis hiros + tires for around.... $1400ish? or intake for maybe around $300ish. as im still a highschool student with a part time job, i don't make alot of money so mods are either this or that every month.
so intake next month or save up for rims? (i have the stock 16" ugly rims)

The rims(axis) will slow you down, but add show.
The intake will speed you up(ever so slightly) and make the car slightly louder.
Either way. Since you're in HS i say go for the bling, but make 'em 19's! You should be able to get a used set with rubber for around 1400.

19" wheels are not good. You could be sued if you get in an accident and it's your fault.
19's are heavier and make you stop slower. They also hurt your handling, AKA accident avoidance.
They also put a bad stress on the whole suspension system and brakes over the long term.

19's are fine to put on.
I dont' understand your thought process here though... how can you be comparing 2 mods that are $1,1000 apart in price?!
If you're a student with only a P/T job, I say get the intake and save your money

I'd so go w/ the intake unless you want to buy my rims haha. An intake is a nice, cheap, and easy to install upgrade. My 19's make me handle way better, the 285s out back are near impossible to budge from the road, they grip so nice! I guess over long-term they probably put more wear on the breaks/suspension.
dont try and spend more than your bedget allows. even though wheels would be nice, think about what is more pratical for your budget. also keep in mind what you want the car to do: show or go. if you are all about show, save your money and spend it on a nice set of wheels. if you are into the performance aspect of the car, forget wheels until graduatin (they can make for nice gifts if you can pull some strings)
My vote would be for the intake or even go for the high flow cat; it will give you more performance gain than the intake. it would be complimented nicely by some spring or shocks of you want to venture into the suspensiont
Edit: Buy some used stock 18", you might be able to find a good deal on some

if its intake you want, go for the Racing Beat Revi; Best quality for the price
Mazdaspeed is nice, but it gets expensive
K&N Typhoon is too loud w/ poor heat shield
HKS racing suction is too expensive for what it does.
what else am i missing?
