What rotors with Hawk HPS???

all 4 of my rotors/pads need to be replaced. Im planning on going with the Hawk HPS pads all around but not sure with which rotors to go with. there is: drilled, slotted, or neither. which would you guys recommend????

i remember reading some where that when the rotors are drilled/slotted, they tend to crack sooner, unless you go with the full brembo kits. but that sounds wrong since the whole purpose of having drilled/slotted is for better ventilation so they dont heat up as much. so what do u guys think? any experiences with specific rotor brands?

any feedback is appreciated...

I have rotora slotted rotors with Hawk HPS pads. I'm very pleased with the combination. I stayed away from the drilled rotors because some people said they're more likely to crack. I'm not sure how true that is for normal street driving. The only cracked drilled rotors I've seen are on cars that frequent the track.

slotteds are fine... Cross drilled on a oem blank disk is not a good choice.
May i ask what are you planning on doing with this? Auto-x, track, some type of racing? If not blanks are easier and best choice.
Brembo makes oem sized slotted, rotora, power slot, ebc are all good choices.
If your into jdm you can invest in some project mu but then those are pricey.

I've had them for 14,000+ miles. I had to replace the OEM pads and rotors at 35,000 miles.

So far the rotors are wearing much better than the OEM's. The Hawk HPS pads feel similar to the OEM pads with a lot less brake dust.

FYI, here's some rotora rotors and Hawk pads for sale on the forum.

I have rotara rotors too!

Hawk pads eat rotors. That's why I use Portefield brakes.

I recommend RacingBrake.com rotors. I have the cross-drilled and curve-slotted rotors with Hawk Pads, and am very happy.

P.S. Look in the vendor section for AutoRnD, PM him (Rishie is his name) and he will give you a good deal if you decide to go with RacingBrake.

no autocrossing...just want some good rotors for street driving. aside from the "cool factor" of slotted or cross drilled, there really isnt an advantage is there?

if slotted hold up and dont crack, then ill go with those.

For street use? No. Actually, probably less stopping power for street use with slotted/drilled rotors as there is less friction surface and no real benefit with the voids.

No, no real gain unless you can heat up your rotors enough on the street, but then you would be seen as a LUNATIC.. lol jk
Brembo oem blanks are fine, bling factor slotted for a few dollars more

that site doesnt have rx8s either. they have brembo rotors for rx7s but nothing for our 8s. i would assume that brembo makes them for rx8s but i havent come across any.

i vote racing brake 2 piece curved open slot (like mine ) all around. even if you dont race, reduced rotational mass will theoretically allow you to accelerate quicker, brake quicker, and even get better gas mileage
