Dugless 10-13-2003, 09:48 PM . sferrett 10-13-2003, 09:58 PM Are we all sure we don't want a kills forum? Look what I smoked yesterday... Surely couldn't have smoked much more than the guy who came up with the color scheme on it? Actually it's a pretty cool lookin' rod, do you think he was being easy on it - certainly would be a shame to have something bad to happen to such a customized ride. If true, the rod guy must have broken something or spun the tires badly. goodyrx8 10-14-2003, 08:28 AM Something tells me that thing doesn't have a 50/50 weight ratio, unless there's another engine in the boot. Rick 10-14-2003, 11:54 AM I think a fantasy kill section would be fun.;) Omicron 10-23-2003, 11:12 AM (Flame suit ON!) I agree that a minor kills section would be fun. But let me explain. Yes, most of us are adults here, and yes, street racing can be DANGEROUS... there is no doubt about that. HOWever - adult though we might all be, who among us has never given in to the temptation for a brief stoplight grand prix? Who has not smoked the guy next to you at a stop, or left behind the guy in a BMW on a merging on-ramp? I mean come ON here folks, we ALL enjoy the car partially because it is fast, and handles like it's on rails... It's obvious to me from reading this forum for a while now that we all have had small "kills" but hesitate to mention them. It's also obvious that we all enjoy reading about them. Little kills creep into ordinary threads, and no one seems to object. But bring it up explicitly and people come out of the woodwork to flame the person who brought it up, and treat them like they're an 8 year old who just said something naughty. How about we lighten up a bit here folks? We all know that it is possible to humiliate another car before you get out of second gear, then shut down quickly (after your point is made) with almost no risk, if you're smart about it. I, for one would kinda enjoy telling others about small victories. I have not so far, nor will I unless it's becomes less taboo around here, but come on... it's possible to do it in a tasteful manner. (Remember, I'm wearing my flame suit here, so I'm impervious to any and all attacks :) ) Genom 10-23-2003, 11:21 AM All I will say is that I have never street raced nor will I ever do so. I do speed on a regular basis when I can, but in street racing your paying even less attention to the road than normal (for most at least, I ALWAYS pay attention to the road) and accidents happen. I have lost people to street racing both friends and family, so I guess I have a lopsided view. Dont street race. You will kill someone you love one day. Quick_lude 10-23-2003, 01:17 PM Agreed, I also have never street raced with my Integra or Prelude.. and was definitely offered. I don't have the need to teach " a punk kid in a Civic" a lesson http://webhome.idirect.com/~jsmialek/Smileys/rolleyes.gif ... and if you need to do something like that AND brag about it on a webboard then you have some serious growing up to do.. imo. :) Put me down as a NO to ANY kind of "kill" http://webhome.idirect.com/~jsmialek/Smileys/shake.gif forum. CraziFuzzy 10-23-2003, 01:27 PM I too have never street raced, I remember when i was a "kid" I did go to a couple popular street racing spots, and did show off my car a bit (while it was sitting still), but never participated in the "festivities"... I remember even then thinking it was pretty lame, a bunch of kids with virtually stock cars "speeding" down a dead end street... with a ton if idiots at the side of the "track".. I just find it silly. I wonder how many of those people who thought it was cool then, are on this forum, and would only be further encouraged by a kill section. There is a very good drag strip near my place that is very cheap to run on, so if I feel the need to "prove" what i already know, that this car is faster than most riced out civics, I could do it there... But the only time i really care about straight line accelleration is merging on the freeway, or passing. Now if only there was a good road course near here, THEN i could actually do some driving that is FUN, not just an "ego booster".
