View Full Version : What Am I Missing From Dealer?

Now I'm freaking out, thinking maybe I didn't get all the parts from the dealership that I should have when I bought my 2007 GT 6MT /w Performance Package in Ottawa this summer.

The car I bought was in the showroom with the Mazdaspeed wheels. Somebody said that I should have received the OEM wheels also. Or if the OEM wheels were on it, I should have gotten the Mazdaspeed ones. Is this true?

Now that I think of it, I didn't get the black "Renesis" panel in the engine compartment. Because the car had the CAI installed ... and knowing so little about engines ... I figured the panel had been removed because it didn't fit with the CAI. Then again, it wasn't given to me either.

And should I have received the stock air intake since the mazdaspeed CAI was on?

I don't know if packages vary from dealer to dealer but if not, I should be entitled to these parts (esp. wheels, if true!) right?

I remember I ask that exact same question when I was purchasing my 8. I went with the -$3000 of the price instead of the performance stuff.

But they said you should get the stock intake and engine cover, but not the stock wheels.

I'm sure you might be able to get them to give you the stock parts, just depends on how much of a fuss you put up.

And make sure you go straight to the manager first, not the salesperson.

You should GET everything that comes with the stock RX-8 PERIOD.

Footman has it right. I think dealers are trying to make up their own deals when it comes to the performance package.

Bottom line, you buy an rx8, negotiate a price, buy car, get performance package for free. The performance package really isn't a bargaining chip for the dealership because it doesn't come from the dealership. It's a Mazda Canada incentive that has nothing to do with the dealer or price of the car.

Bottom bottom line...

You should everything that comes with the stock RX-8 PERIOD.

Thanks for the support, guys.

I sent an email to the sales manager and a voice message to my sales person. I found a pdf pamphlet that advertises the Performance Package and what interested me was the fine print that indicated that all parts might not be available for installation BEFORE April but owners could come in after that for installation. That would imply that if you got the package before April, you left with stock parts and when you returned for installation, you got the package parts and kept the others. So just because my car came with some performance parts already installed shouldn't mean I don't get the original parts, including OEM wheels.

At least that's my fuzzy logic.

I'll keep you posted and thanks again.

No dice. I feel like an idiot yet again. Went to mazda in London after work and talked to sales about the VR /w performance package. I asked him, if I bought this car here, would I get the OEM wheels in addition to the already installed mazdaspeed ones? No. Would I get the stock intake? No. The only other thing is the "Renesis" panel which (he says) doesn't fit with the CAI, although I would still like it.

So, very sorry to bug you guys with this crap and hope you don't think I'm a complete dolt (ie. a partial dolt, perhaps).

Thanks.

You should get 2 sets of rims because you actually paid for those stander one or anything that comes with the pre-performance pkg upgrade.
The rims in the performance package is what the factory offers so it is a additional insentive. I think Dealer pulled a fast one on you.

You should still have gotten to keep all the stock stuff like what qtwre says.

I thought you get the original rims. They're yours. The performance package is on top of the stock parts - not instead of.

Yeah if the performance package comes as a perk from Mazda Canada then it should be of no cost to the dealer, and even the installation the dealer would just bill Mazda Canada. So it shouldn't be a part of the negotiation at all. You should even be able to take the car stock and then put the performance package in the trunk and drive away, then sell the parts for money :p

Alright ... I guess I will keep looking into this and contact Mazda Canada if I haven't heard back from the dealer in a while or if the answer is not satisfactory.

I'll let you all know what happens.

Just to confirm, I got the Mazdaspeed performance kit, with the MS CAI installed. The dealer put the stock airbox in the trunk when they were done. The rims are apparently on back order, but when they come in I get both sets. This is the way it should be. Hope that helps,

Nick

yes, you should be getting everything back!

#1 incase you have to go back to stock intake.(too loud or CEL)
#2 the wheels should come with the car
# the cover will fit with the MS cai i believe....

I just sent an email to Mazda Canada.

This is frustrating, I feel like I can't get a straight answer. A bunch of you are implying I should get the wheels (the most important) as well as the other parts. I don't know who to belive (no offence) but I will keep inquiring and fighting for what I deserve.

Thanks a lot for all your comments, really appreciate it.

Oh we aren't implying anything. We're telling you straight up. You aren't the only person who got the performance package. In fact I sold my MS wheels and kept the OEMs.

well if you think about it, it's supposed to be a $3K performance package that they give you for free. It doesn't say $3K minus the 'upgraded' stuff from the car you bought. Whatever the car came with stock, that's what you own when you purchased the car.

I appreciate anyone posting in this thread but ... I wouldn't mind if it just died for a bit ... until I get a final answer. Feel like I've been whining like a sissy. Just going through early-buyers jitters I think.

so thannks for the 8-inspired support and let me regain my manhood. Maybe with beer.

I believe apart from the stock stuff, you should also be getting a Mazdaspeed6 for free too. ;)

I got everything as well.
Cover does not fit over CAI - sits in my garage with other stock parts.
Don't take any sh.. You'll need those rims for your winter tires.
Good luck.

Hey zerobio,

Have you tried calling Bank Mazda where you got the car? I'm not sure it'd help you... I just tried calling pretending to be a new buyer and asking if they would give me the stock rims and airbox with the package, and they said definitely not. I told them that others who got the perf package before the parts were available got to keep their rims after they were installed later, but Bank said they wouldn't do that.

I'd still keep trying though. Nothing on their flyer (http://www.mazda.ca/files/2007_rx8_pp_en.pdf) indicates you can't keep the old parts.

I'm also pretty sure the stock engine covers fits over the intake.

Eug,

I did call Bank Stree Mazda and they are getting in touch with Mazda Canada. I agree that they are probably not willing to give me the wheels but I can try can't I. And I also agree about the pamphlet.

I was told I'd have an answer by the end of the week so we'll see how that goes.

Thanks.

Hey,

From personal experience My dealer in Toronto gave me ALL of the stock parts after getting the performance package. I got the engine cover, the stock rims and lug nuts, the stock air intake and ALL of the hardware that went with it. I even got filter cleaning solution for the new cold air intake. I bought my car back in February of this year and they didn't have the performance package yet. But when it came in it took one day to get everything installed and my sales person even helped load my car up with ALL of the stock parts. They even held onto the rims for me for two months till I got my garage cleared out so I had space to store them.

You should seriously look into what is going on. You should receive all of the stock parts since you purchased the vehicle and the performance package was an add-on on top of all of the stock parts. Let us know how it works out.

My dealer in Edmonton gave me everything except the stock rims. After a call to the sales manager I was able to get those as well.

^^ that seems like a generic email response...did you specifically ask them if you get both sets of rims?

I agree Rem, it sounds formula. And I did list items such as the wheels in my email. So it's just going to round two, for now.

Thanks,

I got the same response from the 3 dealerships I went to, and they all told me they would not include the stock parts.

This is why I went for 3k off the price instead of 3k of performance stuff that costs the same as the 3k of stock stuff they take from your car.

don't want t start anything but if you paid more than $2,ooo for the upgraded wheels and tires than the dealership has a $2,000.00 dollar credit for factory rims and tires! heres what you do . go to the parts dept and ask how much for four tires four rims four valve stems or tmps four wheels mounted and balanced.a cold air intake system and add that up! I personally bet the price of o.e.m plus the rest well be more than the package you paid for check around and see for yourself
