View Full Version : Sydney Meet Mk 2
pricer01 10-13-2003, 08:48 AM Folks
I missed the previous drive day by by a week and was wondering if there are any plans yet for the 2nd gathering.
Please let me know
Rob
The only thing that'll stop me would be work (project go-live russian roulette :( )
Some place at the end of some twisty bits maybe?
What do you guys think about having a Syd/Canberra drive day somewhere in between? Was thinking that the Kangaroo Valley run from the Hume down to Nowra is pretty good fun.. nice pub in the middle too, great place to have some lunch :)

I think we'd need good weather for that, but it's a good idea.
What do you think about letting a couple of Mazda dealers or rotary tuners know about it and invite them along? It could either bit caps and t-shirts or a few clues on performance mods...
(Going to the dealers may give us access to RX8 owners that don't know about this forum yet).
msydd 10-16-2003, 07:32 PM First - the date?
How's Sunday Nov 9, Nov 16, or Nov 23?
Second - the direction ?
At the First Meeting we talked about heading North along the old Pacific Hwy for lunch at Terrigal.
Third - the destination?
If North, great restaurant called THe Reef overlooking Terrigal Haven, or the Reef Cafe underneath the restaurant, people seemed keen - how about it?
Restaurant or cafe?
Check out the restaurant at www.reefrestaurant.com.au - prices start at $43 for a 2 course meal, or $55 for 3 course. The Cafe is normal cafe prices - so, posh or daggy?
Whether it's North, South, East, or West - count us in!
Cheers
Wife of msydd
P.D.U 10-18-2003, 10:31 AM My vote is for Nov 23rd as I can't make the earlier dates and I don't want to miss the 2nd meet.
Not too worried about the direction or the destination although the suggestion we talked about at the first meet seemed popular with everyone who attended (i.e lunch at Terrigal)
P.D.U
The only problem with Terrigal is parking - it can be hell on a weekend. (and I should follow that comment with a brillant location suggestion shouldn't I...)
23rd is good for me too.
Kev.
OK, I'm thinking...
Titanium RX-8 10-18-2003, 07:21 PM Hi guys. Count me in for the 23rd also. I'll try and bring the girls this time as well. A run up the Old Pacific Hwy is always a good one although I have to agree with Kev about the lack of parking in Terrigal on a Sunday.
Like Kev, I can't follow this with a brilliant location suggestion either. (I'll try to think of one....ouch that hurts!)
Wildcard 10-18-2003, 07:41 PM 23rd works for me too. Any earlier and I will be away with work. I'm from Newcastle, so the Central Coast works better for me than going half way to Canberra.
(edit - will check my spelling before I post next time)
We could still go for something near Terrigal - perhaps Avoca or something. I'm not savvy on a good place up that way to get a bite though.
Jaycee 10-19-2003, 11:19 PM Hi team. I'm on for the 23rd and happy with the Central Coast. Probably best to avoid Terrigal though - much too congested on a nice day. What about heading down to Woy Woy or Patonga Beach - although I don't know about where to eat down that way.

Picnic at Patonga!?!
msydd 10-20-2003, 06:28 PM Patonga sounds great. There is a fish and chip shop there which I hear is excellent.
So, it looks like Nov 23, picnic at Patonga - is Hornsby a good meeting place to start for everyone?
Wife of msydd
msydd 10-21-2003, 02:09 AM OK, It's really me this time ... not "Wife of..."
Suggest the Hornsby meeting place for anyone interested in driving up from Sydney in convoy - up the old pacific hwy.
Others can just meet at Patonga.
- Who will be coordinating the "after Picnic drive ?" ....PDU did such a good job last time (even maps !!)
- What time ? Anyone for the Hornsby pre-gathering should probably meet about an hour before the Patonga time.
I feel like saying "husband of Kev here", but that'd only cause a stir on the trouser ownership front!
P@P ok.
11:00 at Hornsby, 12:00 at Patonga???
I'll even have my front air dam fitted by then :D
I think we should give it a "dress as a rotor" theme and see what people come up with ... wdyat?
richwu 11-01-2003, 05:55 AM Man you guys have fun... I wished I can attend the 2nd meeting too. but I'll be overseas by that time.
msydd 11-01-2003, 06:13 AM Oh no...looks like I'll be busy that weekend as well...
Oh well...anyone want to change the date?
I'm flexible on the date...23rd is starting to look bad for me too.
Is anything happening in November drive wise?
++dez;
msydd 11-09-2003, 03:57 PM OK, I can't make the 23rd, seems some others can't either.
I can make the 30th, but who knows if other can!
So, unless everyone wants to move to the 30th, I suggest you see who can still make the 23rd and go for it.
What's the story everyone... 30th a possible or 23rd still on?
Wildcard 11-10-2003, 07:36 AM I'm flex on either.
Winning 11-10-2003, 10:23 AM 23rd, I'll be in Melbourne, business trip + holiday
30th, maybe back to Sydney, maybe not. I like Crown better than Starcity. :D :D I hope I can make it for the second meeting. Missed the first one. There will be three Winning Blue RX-8s; me, mssyd and Dez. We have to make our family picture guys:D
the weekend of the 22nd is a no go for me, I'm hauling a data centre from newcastle to sydney ( and no, it won't be tied to the rear bumper of the RX8 and dragged! thank you very much ).
but anywhere before or after would be magic!
any thoughts as to where folk might like to go, meet, eat, drive et al?
being the weird ass psychoid that I am, I've prepared a drive CD of RX8 driving friendly muzak for y'all so once we get closer, I'll get a head cound and burn baby burn so when we meet ( before the drive ) I'll chuck some CD's at y'all to listen to for a laugh - yea - I'm mad - but I like the idea of setting a trend of having "rx8 fly in cd compilations" - they might catch on you know!
requests will indeed be taken - just get them in more than 24 hours before the day and I'll gladly include your requested tracks.
and no - I will not be referred to as DJ Dez!
we could get really out there and do the crazy thing of a drive t-shirt too - now that would be pushing the envelope nicely!
for those I'd need a week I think - I've got just the design in mind too!
I even thought about putting the hard word on Mazda for some gizmo's for the day - who knows..
++Dez;
P.D.U 11-19-2003, 07:36 AM Hmm ? :(
It looks as though the coming two weekends are not too good for a few people. I can make it this Sunday but not on the 30th. It would be much more fun if we could agree on a date that 90% of the owners that post here can attend.
P.D.U
My weekends become free after this one, so I become flexible 30/11 or after.
Kev.
RX844 11-20-2003, 12:31 AM I think it's just THAT time of year. We are all getting busy leading up to Christmas. For what it's worth, how's an early '04 get together at Stanwell Park sound? We suggest 2 dates in January with the most agreed to date by the end of the year being set?
jc20b 11-20-2003, 01:19 AM You guys mind if i come along?
not an rx8 owner but drive the car that nearly sent mazda broke
would be good can bring a few mates a mazda familia some rx7s
So count me in terigal is good but yeah parking and surfys scratching your car with there boards. we got a place 2mins walk from main shops might fit 6 cars in there.
Hi Guys, I have been keping an eye on when this RX8 meet was going to happen, the 23rd sounded good and I am ready. Another winning Blue.
If it is still on where are we meeting at Hornsby at 11.00am.
I will check the site later for results if any one knows, otherwise I had better book in for Golf.
DGW we met at the ADV Driving.
Wildcard 11-21-2003, 07:46 PM Welcome PMF!
I don't think the 23rd is happening anymore. Maybe early next year....
Surely a few of us can do something before xmas?
PMF: wana join me for a late night drive some time soon? 2 x winning blue should be fun!
I'm in the habit of 11:30 fangs out to the northern beaches or something of the like.
Otherwise, how about we do a drive to Balmoral beach for a few of us just for lunch and to finally put faces to names?
++dez;
ps: talking of faces to names, I think it's time we had a "These are the people in your neighbourhood" thread for pictures and cars!
