It looks like some vandal keyed my car. There is a deep scratch to the primer from front door to the back door to the rear quarter panel. I am not happy. Has anyone had scratches repaired at the dealer or body shop and have any info on price, recommendations, etc.? Thanks for any feedback.

I got mine sctrached a few weeks after I had it. Scratched on the Dr side front fender and Dr side door Im going to get mine fixed this week. Its goig to cost me about $500-$700. I have a buddy that works at a body shop. They are letting me takeall the parts off the car myself. Door panel, mirror, left head light, side marker, plastic wheel well cover, door hande. Just be ready to pay a ton, but at least it will be fixed.

Thanks for the feedback. It happened in my own parking spot too. Whoever did this is darn lucky I did not see it. Anyway, I will be getting a garage soon and will feel a lot better once I do.

Sorry you guys. My girl best friend just got her new 2004 BMW keyed while parking it in San Francisco. Boy, was she sad....and teared for two days.:( I am probably going to get a cover (plain car cover, not the Rx-8 one) to cover my car when I sleep over a friend's house in San Francisco. sorry again guys ...but what goes around comes around ..so the vandals will get what's coming to them.

My last car was keyed several times
it just plain sucks

My friends would laugh because I spent all my time fixing it up and never wanted to drive it anywhere

I have a buddy that works at a body shop. They painted it yesterday. I went and looked at it yesterday afternoon. It looked real good. I know that panit is hard to match, but they did a good job. Its getting color sanded and rubbed today.

Make certain that the person painting the car knows the correct technique. I found it hard to track down the right people ... mine's velocity red and you would never know it's been sprayed.

Take car using friends - you've got a bad situation if they do it wrong!

I live in Arizona and its HOT. A car cover is a good thing here.

How many of you are going to get a car cover?

Will this also protect against 'keying'?

Mine happend at the mall when I was going to see a movie about 7 at night. I keep it in the garage at night. If you parked it outside all night Id probably get a cover. Might help detour someone from doing something to it.

Some people will be attracted to damage cars under covers because they know the owner thinks they're special :(

I got a tyvek cover - it's light and "breathes".

truth be heard

nothing can stop someone from keying

you as the owner must take extra caution and that all you can really do

I was wondering where you park your cars etc, For example in the mall doesnt it have cameras?

I live in Sydney, Australia and i know alot of the malls have security cameras so you might be able to see the person doing the damage and or track them to there own car.

Im waiting on delivery of my RX8 in Feb ( Of course cant wait ) and i hate the fact that i take my cars eveywhere and not scared to park them anywhere.. Being keyed is one of the worst things i believe. My evo and 66 mustang had both been keyed..

I caught the guy that did the mustang and he was very very sorry. Lucky a friend of mine who was meeting up with me noticed my car and this d*ck laughing with his mate as he was doing. Funny thing was when he ended up walking into the same restaurant that i was eating :)

Anyway i feel your pain.

First post too.. wow.

Regards
Phillip

i park my car in my driveway but its gated by a high fence...sometimes i leave it outside but my best security system from people keying it is my 38 Special Smith and Wesson... =)

not bad, mikeb stuffing the ballot box again. 5 posts on this simple thread and he barely wasted a few dozen words. It's quantity over quality, right mike?
