Has anyone had a look at these as a front door replacement option?

I've never heard them and can't find a review - but they look impressive!

I know their amps are top shelf!

Any comments will be appreciated.

Kev.

They look indeed great - question is, if the factory amp is sufficient to power them. 175 RMS - looks like it'd need a pretty strong amp.
The base stereo would likely not be able to provide the necessary juice, so an extra amp is definitely a good idea there.

The problem isn't the seperate door woofer amps not having enough power. The problem is that the Bose speakers powered by these class-D amps are .5 ohms!

Yes .5 ohms. That means if you tried to use a 4 ohm replacement woofer, it would be 9 dB's less sensitive.

If you want to upgrade the front door speakers, you are going to need to add a seperate amplifier as well. That's no big deal, just be ready for it.

Thanks, yes amp is a must.

Something like a JL 450/4 with very it's flexible inputs and abitily to slave a sub amp like a 250/1.

It's a shame there's not a easy place to fit a couple of 4in mids in the front without getting th knife out :(

I don't think it would be worth the all the effort. And the $$$$

Probably nor was climbing Everest ... but I'm just not the sort of guy to wear a walkman while driving a Hyundai :D

I'm more likely to be able to listen to music at a reasonable volume in the car than I am at anytime at home, spending time and money on this is not only justifiable in my own mind, I actually enjoy the research and the final doing!

If someone's happy with what they've got - that's fine by me, but it doesn't make it fine for me.

The biggest drama in going to be introducing an alternate signal source unit - either the centre console changes or theres's a stealth addition - it'll be fun :D

They're $1,049 AUD on this side of the pond. The way the prices seem to go, that'd put them at about $450 US at a discount dealer.

Realistically, they probably create more problems for the 8 that they solve. They'll bring about a need for a 4~5 in front components and you'd still need a sub (plus to make it all worthwhile you'd probably want to port a 12in + sub).
