I just got back my car from the dealership saturday. The only problem is when i drive more then 10 miles theres smoke by the oil filter. It seems as its leaking on the engine block but the filter is on correctly. Has anyone else had this problem??

there shouldnt be leaks if its installed correctly.

let your car sit till its cool, take it out, and retighten it yourself, then spray the area with some sort of electric safe cleaner.

its common that dealerSHIT people just cant get any job done correctly.

Tried that. Took the filter off myself and put it back on. still leaks. and i cleaned the area to get the extra oil off the block.

Try a new filter. Could be that the o-ring is defective/damaged, or maybe the old one is on there too. Or there is just something wrong with that filter. Also take a close look at the face that the filter seals against - make sure that's not damaged.

I will try that but it looks like its leaking where that pipe connects to the engine block. maybe they forgot to put a gasket back?

What all did the dealer do to the car? Just an oil change? Sounds like the gasket on the filter is defective. Change the filter and be on your merry way. :)

The engine was replaced. I changed the filter and we'll see what happens. The dealership is in Jersey. I now live in PA. and my hours at work are pretty crazy since i work in the networking field.

call the dealership up and let them know about it, force them put a note on your record, then change the filter yourself.

so if something else *goes wrong in the future*, you can blame the dealership.

A note on your "permenant record"? I bet the get right on that. Just like in 3rd grade.

Sending my car to a different dealership for them to work on it. Wish me luck. :fingersx:
