I also just installed an OBX header! And quit my job in the same day! Being irresponsible and going fast has never been so fun...

Speaking of which, Mr. Banana - stop with all of yer speedin'-out-o-the-lot malarky. After you left the security guard called the cops on us. You can drive a like a doofus all you want, just don't do it in our meeting zone or else we're going to have to find a new one.

so I couldnt wait and started driving my car again with left hand shifting muhahahahahahaha~!! Im not sure if I can make this wednesdays meet though. It all depends if I finish up my schoolwork or not. Ill keep you guys posted!!

Don't feel too bad. Here's the story exactly as it happened:

I dropped you off.
You sped off.
I took someone else for a ride.
You sped back.
I came back, gave you your phone, and took the next person out for a ride.
you sped off, again.
Cop showed up... didn't actually talk to anyone or do anything... just kinda watched.
I came back.
Cop left.
20 minutes passed.
Security guard showed up and told us to leave or she'd call the cops.
...We were confused considering the cops were just there and did nothing, so we just ignored her.
30 minutes later the meeting ended.

You didn't get us in any trouble (yet) so don't feel (too) bad. Just stop drawing so much attention to us before we piss off a REAL authority figure.

ROTARYGOD:
We're open to any and all suggestions regarding meeting times and locations. The only reason we meet when we do is because we had seen other groups use this lot for meetings around this time without getting hassled by security/police. If you have any suggestions, our ears are open.

Ya, a month or two before we started having meets at that place, ricers of all kinds would show up and just start laying down tons of rubber on that concrete... I would always watch from a distance, and be amazed that police officers for some reason would just not show up! Thanks for clarifying on the exact situation... This Wed. we should probably contemplate a different meeting spot

Hey Houstonians - welcome to another annoying thread from your resident long-winded yankee. ;)

For those of you that don't know, the guys North of Houston have been holding weekly get togethers. We've always invited all Houston RX owners, but it's always the same 4 or 5 people showing up due to other Houston owners not being available on the dates/times we've picked, or find our meeting location to be too long of a drive.

To solve this problem, we're now taking suggestions for meeting times & places. Give as much information as you want regarding your schedule, and I'll do my best to make sure I update this first post with all relevant and up-to-date information.

As long as we aren't assholes about it there shouldn't be any problem with the current location. Just drive calmly when in the parking lot and the police nor security will have any grounds to remove us.


BTW - I started a new thread where everyone can post their available dates/times as well as any other possible meeting places. Hopefully more people will start attending; I'd like to meet more of the members in person :)

I'm assuming that since you're still getting used to the gearstick, you're also fairly new to the US and not just the car. How long have you been in The States? and did you come from Europe or Asia?

I got some bad news... Mostly for me though... I gotta finish some 400 pages of reading before Thursday, so I'm going too have too cancel my attendance at this meet...

Not to wonder too far off topic, but I was reading your signature rotarygod. I can't believe that Ted Koseki would say something like that. I don't know how he is now considering I have seen postings from him since I've been on the old RX-7 and Haltech newsgroups servers. Is he still tuning strictly by EGT?

Bring your girlfriend to the meet; my wife goes with me to all of them. This is even to the Houston RX Club drives. I can understand if you'll never hear the end of it if she does come along. ;-)

It's no big secret that I don't get along with Ted. I just feel that when you have the time for 24,000+ posts on a forum, at least one of them should not be a negative comment and from time to time there should be some good advice mixed in there somewhere. I haven't seen it yet and this quote is proof. He once argued with me that something that was actually running and working on my own car couldn't be done and accused me of lying since I didn't want to go out to dyno it to appease him. Whatever. Let that forum stay dumb.

My girlfriend lives in Clear Lake. She's definitely not going to drive up here only to have to leave the same evening. She works in Galveston so that just isn't an option. I'm going into town to meet up with her tonight. She's been to a couple of the regular meets before.

Came over from the UK less than a fortnight ago.

Well I have been visiting the US frequently for a few years, now here to stay for the foreseeable future. So far so good.

The standard of driving in Houston is fairly high, certainly comparable to UK which is very high (never quite understood why!)

I'm looking forward to the driving test, which I have to take sooner or later. It sounds pretty easy in comparison to ours. But then again you guys have drivers' education classes in school, which we don't - but really could use! :uhh:

However you do seem to have a slightly higher proportion of impatient arses over here, tailgating like idiots to save 0.0001% of their journey time...

But they can get away with it more here than in the UK because they are usually in some huge truck, rather than in some crappy Peugeot 205 deathtrap. :uhh:

Roads are probably slightly higher standard here, although you guys really ought to embrace the roundabout at some point. :lol2:

I've seen few, if any, speed cameras so far - and definitely none of the ultra-killjoy "average speed cameras". :rolleyes:

Well since Humberto is barreling down on our coast along with the fact that my girlfriend lives in Clear Lake, I'm not meeting up with her tonight. Her driving scares me when it's dry outside! I may stop by. Unfortunately it won't be in a rotary though.
