Has anyone looked at the new Pontiac G8 coming out this January. 362 hp and a near 50/50 weight distribution should make it a real sleeper. I think this is the first of the new zeta's to hit the market and with the optional Gen 4 LS it moves right along. While its not a rotary, fans of american muscle may want to give this next Holden import a look.

Well the G8/Commodore has been talked about in a few threads on here. Most of us agree its a killa car and something that alot of us will look into for a reasonable um "Family 4 door sedan" my major disapointment though is the fact they named it the G8 and redid the front for the coporate grill bullshyt. Holden did a amazing job on the car and Pontiac should of left it alone. Hell at this point Pontiac should just be renamed Holden and get it over with lol. The 50/50 weight thing though is news to me since I havent read much into the specs.

I like the looks of the car and a lot of what has been revealed about it (50/50 weight distribution). One of the only things I don't like is that I read somewhere that it may weigh close to 4000lbs! At that weigh if they are going to put the LS engine in it they should not detune it to 362hp!

I actually halfway changed my mind about the lbs per hp thing. This car will probably be easily modified to get to 400+ hp. Possibly less than $1000 to get a very nice jump in power!

"Cast No Shadow" is a cool tune I might as well say.

It runs on regular gas. Give it a tune for running 93 octane, and I bet you get your 400hp at the crank. $500.

But it is Butt ugly and is a GM.

What good is 362 hp if the engine leaks and the brakes need to be replaced every 10K miles, and it has more cheap ass plastic than a Hyundai.

seriously, im not impressed, it seriously looks like someone had just decided to rebadge a cadillac cts-v and make it 30 times worse

Yes they are almost 4000 pounds but the LS2 is so strong you don't notice the weight. It's a very balanced car with excellent manners for a sedan. And with the LS2 it has ~ 150 more HP than our 8s and gets much better FE. :)

Show me links to where they have any problems with the LS2, hell, any LSx and excessive brake wear. If not, then STFU :tool:

Car sounds nice as a full size sedan with some luxo equipement in it yet still giving the customer enough balls to have fun with.

They also mentioned the possibility of having a 6 speed manual wich would be nice.

It seems they put together a nice package for older guys who need a full size car and still want to have fun. Hope it does well.

So far it looks promising but I will have to save final judgement until I see it in person.

Man - you are exactly right. I'm a former owner of a CTS, and that looks just like one. Even more so than when Ford came out with the Fusion. Of course being GM they have all the inside info to tweak the CTS to come up with the G8.
