THESE ARE THE REAL THINGS. what this also means is that the stupid digital spedometer won't get changed       Grimace 11-15-2002, 05:19 AM Hooray for the digital speedo! I like it. I'll have to sneak on to this forum at work. I'm speechless right now, but I have lots to say and point out about the pics. fuz 11-15-2002, 05:38 AM I don't mind the digital speedo too much, though I would still prefer analog. The digital setup reminds me way too much of Gran Turismo 3. ;) Not entirely a bad thing, but not my ideal setup. Me like!!! As for the digital speedo...apparently they're changing it for next year. Does that mean this one will be more of a collectors item in 10-15 years? tallguylehigh 11-15-2002, 01:32 PM Changing the digital speedo to an analog speedo? After only one year? That doesn't make much sense to me, especially since this a car that has been reworked from the ground up. If they were going to change from digital to analog after only one year, why not just make it analog to begin with? Hercules 11-15-2002, 01:39 PM Originally posted by fuz I don't mind the digital speedo too much, though I would still prefer analog. Same.. it's something I can overlook given the rest of the car :) WankelWannabe 11-15-2002, 01:52 PM Originally posted by tallguylehigh Changing the digital speedo to an analog speedo? No worries, I can live with the digital speedo...those new mirrors on the other hand :( Must have been designed by the same guy! That's okay, I planned on getting black anyways. pmacwill 11-15-2002, 02:23 PM I agree about the mirrors. All in all, this is one sexy car and I'm really happy it seems like we finally know what to expect come june/july. The mirrors... ugh. But about the digi speedo, I had one in a 91 chrysler new yorker and have one in a 2001 grand prix (in the heads up display) and I must admit, I kinda like it. I hate digital watches (all about the chrono) but sometimes when you are racing along its nice to be able to look down and not have to look twice to see how fast you really are going (cause its going to be fast). zoom44 11-15-2002, 02:50 PM i'm not buying red, i'm not buying red, i'm not buying red, cops ticket red , the wife said no red..... damn this car looks good in red! Good stuff. Its more expensive, but it really improves the functionality of the trunk (no hinges to crush your groceries.) http://www.rx8forum.com/attachment.php?s=&postid=15055 rxtreme 11-15-2002, 02:57 PM particuliarly from the Autobild pics. I'm surprised no one mentioned what looks like no HID's on the headlights. Not that it's a real big deal, but it does look like no HID's. Also, from the speedo pic., one of the indicater lights look's like a upshift light. I don't know if the FD's had this, but the one's in some of the other cars I've seen---VW for example---are annoying as hell. They tell you to shift at really low RPM's (for optimum gas mileage). It's really a waste of a light. Now, if it's a shift light for close to max RPM, then that's a different story :D tallguylehigh 11-15-2002, 03:15 PM I was looking over the new pics and I came across the pic of the rear. I noticed that the place where the key goes is integrated in the right tail light, just thought it was kinda trick, and since no one pointed it out before, thought I'd pass it along. Don't know how to post a pic so I will just make my observation and go now :D m477 11-15-2002, 03:22 PM Did anyone notice the pedals? They look like they're specifically set up for heel toe breaking! Super nice! It's starting to look like they really put a lot of attention into details like this with the car, I can't wait to test drive one! http://www.mazdausa.com/rx8/gallery/photos/photo19_download.jpg B-Nez 11-15-2002, 04:18 PM First off...OH MY GOD!!!! I am absolutely beside myself, these pictures are so beautiful. One thing, though: we lost the rotor-shaped rear-fog light. The cutout is still there, but no light. Maybe our brothers in the UK will get to keep it, since it is required by MOT. Puppy1 11-15-2002, 05:19 PM Originally posted by B-Nez First off...OH MY GOD!!!! I smell "Aftermarket" RX-7_16 11-15-2002, 05:31 PM what is the difference between those 2 rotors in the pictures....one looks like the 13b style, and the other looks like the renesis style.....does any1 know what the difference is? or which rotor will be the rx-8, and who knows....maybe they are constructing another rotary for another...car....hint hint...wink wink T-von 11-15-2002, 08:49 PM I noticed that the rotor on the Renesis has 3 oil control rings. They must really be trying to cut down on the oil consumption. SA22C 11-15-2002, 09:42 PM Those are the same rotors. The 'renesis' rotor is just a rotor cut in half width-wise. The rotors in the Renesis are externally identical, other than the aforementioned oil seals, to previous rotors from a 13B. Actually, from the top, the rotors from the 10A, 12A, 13B and 20B are identical. Mazda rotors only differ in width from one motor to the next. Matt 1979 SA22C cueball 12-04-2002, 02:13 PM that is the first pic of the trunk open that i have seen. I noticed that there are still some pics from the original RX8 concept (the first red one). |
