Well, she's gone. I felt a little like someone returning a rescued dog to the animal shelter. Poor little car was just sitting out there in the rain all by herself. Hopefully she'll find a loving family soon. The transfer went very smoothly and the folks at Mazda South were terrific as usual.
I talked to the Inventory Manager, asking how the 8's are selling and at what price. He said they are still trying to get at or close to MSRP. This, I figure, is why they still have over 20 on the lot. My salesman admitted sales are very slow but they are not yet willing to discount deeply as it is still far too early to determine what future sales might bring. The current advertising blitz has helped but 8's still are not exactly flying off the lots.
Too Cool! They had a new Mazda 3 in the showroom even though it won't be available for sale until late December. This is one terrific looking car! Huge improvement in looks over the Protege that it replaces. (A car my daughter owns and we both love). I expect Mazda to sell these things in droves, providing some much need cash flow. Top notch car inside and out.
Even Cooler! BMW national gathering in town this week and I got to go look at the new X3, 545i and 645i. The new 5-Series is going to take a while to get used to. Many will hate the looks and many will like. I understand everyone will love the ride though. The new 6 Series was absolutely gorgeous and I almost spilled by seed while sitting in it. What a gorgeous racehorse. 325 screaming hp, great looks, great materials, superb build quality and, unfortunately, a $75,000 price tag. Maybe next life.
Saw an RX8 broken down on the side of the road last night.....hopefully it was none of you guys. Maybe he just ran out of gas.........something easy to do at 16mpg.
You guys take care.....I enjoyed the banter. No hard feelings Klegg and Huckster. WRX Ike, you continue to keep these guys honest. They may pretend they don't want you around but I think everyone enjoys a little tit for tat. (What is tat and how do you go about exchanging it for the other?). I like arguing as well....which is why I'm a Packer fan here in Cowboy territory and a Fighting Irish fan even though I graduated from U.T. Just think of how boring life would be if we had nobody to argue with.
I'll pop in on occasion to see how the 8 is coming along.
Good Luck!
