some of you guys are a little disapointed about the rx8 which only has 2 rotors, maybe the mazdaspeed will come with 3 or 4 rotors , a TURBO for sure , the turbo better have more pounds of boost , like 24 or higher.

uhhhh... guys???
repeat after me: "If you can't say anything nice..."

actually Unempimp, this's being discussed in another thread...

btw, do you have any notion at all of what 24psi of boost DOES to an engine?? didn't think so...

24 psi?!?!?

Maybe if I want the rotor to shoot through my fender!

Check out the 3 rotor post in the "requests section".

Yes, I hope the MPS or Mazdaspeed RX-8 does NOT have a turbo.. there is something about the throttle response on a NA car that is just ooo.... *drool*

They can add more carbon fiber to the body/chassis and reduce weight more, and add the 3 rotor.. that will be the most effective production for the Mazdaspeed RX-8, instead of adding a turbo and stuff that adds insane weight.

The rotors weigh something like 12 lbs, and increasing the rotor housing shouldn't be that much weightier... say they add a max of 100 lbs to the car due to the engine, then reduce some more by using more carbon fiber... Yup, that would do it for me.

I hate turbo cars because in hot weather they will slow down off their specs... lag sucks, and you have have the thing idle before you turn it off... nah, give me NA any day over turbo. I hate turbos.

im just 14 years old and im happy about the rx8 , i saw how the maazdaspeed protoge , its turbo only had like 5.3psi and i got frustrated and why not 24psi , i saw a IS300 with a turbo that has 24.0psi!!! i think the rx8 can handle that!

You're just 14 and your screen name is umemployedpimp? Is pimping something you do after homework or is this a future profession?

Quad rotor. Heck no!!!

A quad rotor is like an inline 8 cylinder engine. Fires like an inline 4. A quad rotor fires like a dual rotor.

Tri rotor:cool:

Rotaries don't like excess heat... the 13B would tell ya that.

Anyway I would not buy a Mazdaspeed RX-8 with turbos.. 3 rotors and lighter weight, YES, but not with a turbo. I just don't like turbos.

Anything near 24psi seems like a tall order for a production rotary...but then again, what do I know?

As far as blowing 24psi through a Lexus IS, Toyota's cast iron blocks are tanks. They can take most anything you can throw at them. (At least I think they are still cast iron, they were in the last Supra.)

(At least I think they are still cast iron, they were in the last Supra.) Still, the engine had to be rebuilt to handle that kind of boost for more than a couple of weeks. The block might be able to handle it, but normally things like head gaskets, pistons, con-rods, cranks, and even valve trains will need to be upgraded to put 24 psi on a production NA engine.
