Hi,
Got a nail and have to replace just one tire (Dunlop 8090, 225-45-R18). Only got 10k on the other 3 so I'm looking for a lightly or almost new replacement. Called around Ottawa and the cheapest I could find is $420!! The worst part is it will take 5 days to get here.
Can anyone recommend another source for this tire other than Tirerack and 1010tires in the Ottawa region? They both have it but it would take a while to ship to Ottawa.
Alternatively, if someone has one for sale I would be quite interested.
Thanks!

May I ask why you don't plug and patch it?

Not to beat a dead horse but tiretrends.com may be another option?

They couldn't patch it because it's too close to the side wall. The patch would be partly on the side wall. The guy has my car jacked up already and he wouldn't fit it even though I offer to pay for it knowing it may not last. Do you think he's just too caucious?
Tiretrend doesn't carry this tire.
Anyway, what do other Ottawa owners do when they have to replace just one tire?

Most shops won't repair anything near the sidewall even if you authorize them to in writing, because of possible liability when the repair fails, as well as the chance of the customer just being a pain in the ass afterwards. In the US, some states won't even allow the tire shops to attempt it. In addition to proximity of the puncture to the sidewall, there are quantity limits. 2 tread repairs in one tire are OK, 3 means a new tire.
I've got the Dunlops too. I think I'm going to "escrow" money for a new set of tires right now...

Thanks for the info.
By they way, just found out that Talon Tire can get this tire for $340 shipped to Ottawa. Somewhat below the pain threshold now. Still needs 3-4 days to get here though....
Would still like to know if anyone in Ottawa area has a lightly used OEM tire for sale so I don't have to park my car for that long.

On a related note, if I had known how long it takes to get this tire I would have definitely negotiated to have all 4 tires replaced with something more readily available when I bought the car. I'm sure the dealer would do that to close a sale (they can still resell the OEM ones as new perhaps). There are much better options out there for the $$ and they would be much easier to source. Apparently the 8090 is only made for Lexus and Madza.
A friend of mine told me that Hyundai did something similar on a car (forgot the model) where they had used an OEM tire that's impossible to source. People had to wait 6 months in Ottawa to get replacement!! Guess I shouldn't complain too much.
