I heard from a former rotary engine mechanic that the new RENESIS engine will lock up. The situation would be that if it's raining and the engine gets wet it will cool too quickly and eventually if not immediately cause a lockup of the engine. I dont want to believe this b/c it wouldn't make sense to put something so fragile into a car. Please tell me it isn't so.

This sounds like 100% FUD...
I've driven rx's in the rain plenty of times (I used to live in Portland) and in the snow.
What you got told is a big line of BS. I wonder what the motive of the person who told you that was.
Simon.

hey...i appreciate the input...any other particular problems anyone has had that hasn't been meantioned. i'm looking to buy an 8 at the beginning of the year so any input is greatly appreciated.
If water got IN the engine that would be BAD, but all street cars are designed so water doesn't get into the engine.
Who ever told you this is on crack.

lol, you got told that and belived it?
Engine lockup is BAD, realy bad, esp if your moving at the time.
The engine has a ton of water passed through it then via a huge radiator, and its oil goes through 2 intercoolers.
What makes you think some rain is going to cool it down enough to lock it up? The car will (should) start and run in sub zero temperatures anyhow. have to be some cold rain....

I assume he is a "former" rotary mechanic due to his complete lack of knowledge. I guess I am lucky my car didn't lock up on my trip to MN a few weeks ago in pouring rain ;)

I would feel really sorry for the people that live in florida if that were true.
