Not sure if anyone really follows pro cycling anymore since Lance left 2 years ago, but today Tailwind announced they're pulling out. Tailwind Sports are the folks who've run the US Postal/Discovery team and won the last 8 out of 9 tour de france races, in addition to being the only team to win several other significant races over the years and being the most accomplished team in cycling, all the while carrying on with true class and sportsmanship, and being the cleanest team in the sport.
Now they're calling it quits, I guess all the doping scandals and head butting of all the different sanctioning bodies has Lance and co. wanting no part of any of it until the sport cleans itself up a bit, I've really enjoyed watching them over the years, they were the ONLY American team in the tour every year and watching them dominate and ride with class has been something I look forward to watching every year, now it's gone...ugh....makes me sick.

here's a link to one of many articles sure to come up today, I bet the beligan/french/all of europe is ecstatic.

At least they went out on top. I think it was the first time they won the team title.
I wonder who Contador is going to ride for. I think he's a better GC rider than Levi.

true, should be interesting to see how it all plays out, I'll also be interested in who stays clean post disco as I don't know of any other teams out there that were as hardcore as they were as far as doping etc., I've heard SlipStream might be joining the fray, there's talk of some of them going there, Hincapie looks to be going to T-Mobile....ugh

It's too bad.

I must say watching the tour without Lance is not the same.

everytime sportmanship dies, a large piece of that sport dies with it.

If my kids wanted to immortalize any player of any sport in the world - that team would be up there in the top 5.

What a shame... so now there is not going to be a US team to root for next year. Contador will probably end up on Euskatel, eh?
